The Tottenham Thread 12/13

I hear they were screwed today with reds and penalty shouts?
The one in the first half (when Cornelius got booked for diving) was a nailed on penalty. Didn't see the second one, so I can't comment on that. As it turned out, it wouldn't have made any difference as the Tarquins won anyway (unless you want to argue that an early Spurs goal would have put psychological pressure on Arsenal).

I am sure even the most staunch chelsea fan will disagree with that. They have not been ridiculously good. They have been underachievers this season.

and your real transition will come when Bale leaves you for the swamp.

Overall yes, but they've found their form in the final part of the season.

Bale won't leave this summer, there's a very small chance of it happening and more likely that he signs an extension. Also if he does leave it will only be to Real Madrid, there's 0 chance of him going to another Premier league club.

Anyway my point was that we haven't bottled it like we used to do when Redknapp was manager, we've actually been on a pretty good run of form.

Last year Levy had to sell Modric and let VDV go. Its really down to the owners motivation, which isn't dissimilar to the goners. If Bale goes, which is in the balance if you don't get in the top 4, it will still be for around £40 million. I would expect that to be AVB's transfer budget. I reckon he will make very, very good use of that money. You have a very good coach, Bale, or no Bale, you will over take the goners next year.

AVB will get bad press for finishing 5th not 4th yet his total points was higher than last year's.

All the faults lay at Levys door. He left his club high and dry with 2 strikers and one of which is injury prone. Demaio would'be been a great buy and helped them win games. That couple of mill he tried to save in fees as just cost him 25-30m in CL revenue. Spurs fans see him as this transfer guru but really is a tight bastard who's cost his team dearly. He presided over the Jol sacking for Ramos which was a disaster and tries to squeeze clubs for players, high sell and low buy. This is justice this is. Fuck em.

Just gutted Arsenal got 4th, I wanted them to suffer for RVP sale and instead they scrap through. I'd sooner see Everton get 4th.

-- Sun May 19, 2013 6:32 pm --

Now the Bale auction begins
60m English clubs or 50m to Real or Bayern imo.

If there was a player I saw City bust the bank for its this lad. He's a game changer who thrives on pressure. His goal at our place last year was unbelievable, scored a goal of the season contender today. World class player and hopefully we are in the hunt.

I agree with everything you said except for the press hammering AVB. I think they will understand he did a good job.

I mentioned before how Levy makes mistakes by wrangling over a million when a player would be vital to the team. Javier Martinez is a perfect example of when you need to pay over the odds to get a player to complete your team. Not doing so will cost you in the long run.

Press have already started to say he's overseen regression in league placements. My favourite Talksport pundit is one if them - Durham.

Terrible decision by Marriner not to give Spurs a penalty after Larsson's foul on Bale.

Congratulations to the WUM at White Hart Lane who spread the rumour that Newcastle had scored. The reaction of the Spurs fans was amusing.

Spurs fuck it up again.....

Its a shame, because ultimately your squad was weaker this year and you fought in all competitions. Gallas is not as good as he was last year, Adebayor was the lazy Adebayor signed on a contract instead of the hungry one. Then as good as Demebele is, Modric is still better and VDV is better than Holtby. Throw in Chelsea being significantly better this year and coming fifth is in no way taking the team backwards. Sandros injury was a huge blow. I actually thought you would not make top 4 when he got injured.

How do you progress from this is the problem. I wanted Tottenham to make top 4 so they could get to the next level, but now Bale is probably off to Madrid.
