Eccles of course! Just Eccles!!
Yes, yesterday could have gone better, yes we should have held onto the lead once we had it, yes I am disappointed but.............. the players don't play badly on purpose. They don't come out saying to themselves; "Well today I am not in the mood so I shall play badly". I guess that it is a bit like people going into work on Monday and having a bad day. Unfortunately yesterday quite a few of our players had a "bad day at the office".

After the International break they will come back playing even better and, at the end of the day, it is only a football match and, in view of the fact that today is Remembrance Sunday, maybe we should take comfort from that.

Just my opinion after a night of contemplation. :-)

You're right, of course. They play badly because of the way their incompetent leader sets them up.

Dubai blue I seem to remember you continually slating me for criticising the manager for setting the team up badly and being tactically naive, maybe I am wrong, or have you finally opened your eyes.

Remember, this just one example:

I did say I rate Hughes highly in every other aspect of his management, I am being fair and constructively critical, are you?

No you're not, you're just moaning about yesterday's result.

And I think I was very constructive in my appraisal of all the negative whingers on here. It's pathetic that so many people (and this isn't specifically aimed at you) are getting hysterical over an away-day draw.

We weren't great yesterday and Wigan probably edged it. But there really is no need to keep performing the Spanish Inquisition on the manager, the left-back, the right-back, the centre-back, the left winger, the support striker etc every single time we fail to win a game. We've played some great stuff so far this season, but unfortunately we didn't produce it yesterday. It happens. Let's move on.

Yesterday was a turning point for me.

I can dismiss one or two (or even three) pathetic performances in a row as an isolated rocky patch amongst an otherwise excellent run of form, and I wouldn't ever go over the top in my criticism under those circumstances.

However, when it reaches five in a row, it becomes a clear pattern of shitness and something is very obviously going wrong.

We've now been bad more than we've been good this season and the most worrying thing is that the team are getting progressively worse the longer they spend "gelling" with each other and learning the ways of the Taffia.

In the grand scheme of things an away draw at Wigan wasn't a bad result and didn't necessitate the hysterical nonsense that followed it. But blowing a 2-goal lead at home to Fulham (again) and blowing a lead late on at home against Burnley after having dragged ourselves back into it is criminal.

You must be terribly happy right now after what was a fine performance yesterday and string of excelllent performances as of late.

I totally agree with you, it is hard to take.

I want Hughes to suceed but the evidence is mounting against him, and I think his loyalty to his backroom staff, Bowen and Co will cost him dearly, he needs a better, more informed back up team. We have been going downhill steadly and I wanted to post that we could, unbelievably, lose to Burnley but could not bring myself to post that a City team I love could lose. However the writing has been on the wall for a while now, the formation, treatment of players, tactical decisions they get more bizarre by the day.

In the end our defence is woeful and weak and the opposition know that, so they are prepared to throw people forward; 14 goals conceded in 11 games, or 14 goals conceded in 9 games since Dunne left, WTF. 8 goals conceded at home in just 5 games, did Hughes not rant on endlessly about how shit our defence was and totally replace it with this bucket of shite, none of whom throw everything at the ball to prevent a goal, which a totally City committed Dunne did despite what some thought of him.

aaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
