Things that are pretty much obsolete.

I remember at senior school, we didn’t have ‘fountain or cartridge’ pens. We had a bit of wood with a nib on the end, our desks had ink wells which the teacher topped up with ink (Quink). 1970View attachment 92784

We'd just about master 'real writing' with a pencil at Primary School and they'd give us a nib to put us in our place.
Blue fingers were the norm throughout the final year at Primary.

Even worse if selected to be a prefect in secondary school?

Very much so I would imagine.

I was a prefect at Primary school and the first to get strapped and have their badge taken off them, after I got into (OK, started) a big scrap in the dinner room. Tables over, chairs about, the lot.

Some dinner lady grass fitted me up after I said I was just trying to stop the fight.

"Dinner lady grass" that made me chuckle mate ;)

The very term 'class monitor' reminds me of the days when being 'selected' by the teacher was probably the worst psycological punishment they could dish out.

You were a marked man as a monitor.

Did you not fancy a career as an internet moderator?
