Things that have been milked for far too long…

The media coverage of Jay Slater.

Now, I'm not dismissing or belittling the loss of a young life. Tragic for him and his family/friends.

But even today, the MUEN have published/tweeted two stories about his death, what people who associated with him have said etc. There's only so much more that can be reported and said about what happened, surely?

Ex-footballers and their Brian Clough liked a drink anecdotes.

Contributors to football chat and social media commenting that:

Clough should have been England manager
Football was better played on mud heaps

Lots of the old Forest players are out on the speaking circuit recycling exactly the same stories, most of which are fake.

Their individual connections with Cloughie effectively gives them free rein to create their own myths.

I met Des Walker at an event recently and it was like he was on autopilot, saying the same thing to everyone, telling the same old stories. Obviously, he got laughs a-plenty from the attending pissheads, but in all honesty, I could have told exactly the same stories  and done them in a Cloughie accent.

As for your other points... Clough should have been England manager, and football definitely was better played on mud heaps.

:-)

The Beatles.

I agree and I love The Beatles.

All these reissues and remasters every year of the same songs, it's not necessary.

I get it, it's a business and it makes money but how many versions of the same album could you need? They already sounded great. It's just milking it at this point when it's not necessary.

Disagree.
The lastest releases weren't remasters of the album's they were completely remixed by George Martin's son. A huge undertaking.
And they sound brilliant :)

Also fans wanted them...

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is known to have sold over 32 million copies. "Abbey Road" has sold over 19.9 million copies, while The White Album has sold over 14 million.

The remasters were released in 2009. 16 years ago.
I don't know where your getting your 'every year' statement from.

Football tragedies that happened more than a lifetime ago (for some). Namely a certain air crash that happened 66 years ago, and another disaster that happened 36 years ago. I mean, in the decade we are currently living in there was a disaster that took the lives of 232,112 people in this country, and we don't have constant reminders of it.
I'll vote for COVID. Sick to fucking death of people going on about it.

Oh, and 9/11.

The re-mixes do sound good.

However, I think an album is a moment and snapshot in time and doesn't need remixing. Remastering I get, especially as technology and listening devices change. But as far as taking apart mixes and remixing them, I kind of think it's messing with the art. The mix is very much part of the art I think. That's just my opinion.

Although I do think Giles did a very tasteful job on them, so I did enjoy them, and obviously the two remaining members were happy enough.
