a bit miffed and very sympathetic for RM...

the guy comes in half way through the season....has a transfer window to deal in where decent deals are notoriously difficult to seal(although johnson will be a gem imo).....the squad has to adapt to another style and method of working, and RM has to install this into them....and is fully aware of the notion that if he doesn,t ensure 4th spot he,s out....imo any european football next season will suffice and offer him a concrete contract,so the guy knows where he,s up to.....maybe,just maybe, some of the players he,s inherited aren,t his type of player, and MUST have a real window to buy in-SUMMER....TO ASK A GUY TO SECURE 4TH PLACE ALMOST OVERNIGHT IS JUST PLAIN UNREALISTIC imo....ta.....

The guy comes in half way through the season....am to secure fourth place?? Wasn't Hughes sacked because the board didn't feel he was doing well enough to get fourth? Otherwise why sack Hughes at all until the end of the season?

I'm not advocating getting shot of Mancini if we don't get fourth but I would think it would be pretty understandable if we did and not particularly unfair as Mancini was surely aware of why he was being brought in when he signed the contract.

Edit: We will get fourth anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about it, if Mancini is going to go its more likely that he will jump ship himself to go back to Italy or else Mourinho is on the way in and he knew all along that it would only be short term. I doubt he will actually get 'sacked'

It's a big ask, you make some good points, but he knew the score beforehand.

I like him though tbh.

most that wanted hughes out blamed him and used the excuse that we have a top 4 squad but wasn't capable so we have the same players and on paper a better manager so unrealistic it is not!

i dont buy into this "not his players" or "not his style of player" mate tbh.......if mancini is the world class manager we think we have, then why cant he develop/find a system that does work with the players he has, even if only a temp measure

My opinion for what it's worth is we have yet to see a manager at City who is in charge. Look at bacon face, ok he's a twat but a bloody good one! He runs the rags not the players and how often do you hear a rag player slagg anything rag off? You dont because they know the score. Now if we had a manager with balls who took control then I think we would see a different City. JM wouldnt take the shit. Now for me we have too many players who open their mouths and or think they are bigger than the club and the're not. The sooner they realise this and Mancini or whoever takes control the better.

the guy knew from the very beginning that, 3 year contract or not, his job was going to be up for review in the summer, and was happy to take the job on those terms, he doesn't have much to lose, and everything to gain either way. Either stays and takes the team on to glory, or leaves with a paid up contract and very much in the shop window for managerial jobs in a league he wants to coach in.

this is all just my supposition and guesswork,I make no pretence that it's anything else, I know nothing - but it's very much what I reckon....
