In my line of work I have to say this recession is as bad as any I have known in the last 30 years.

It pisses me off that this was brought on by the fat cats at the top lending to people/businesses who clearly couldn't afford it.

Then after the best part of 8 months calling it a "Credit Crunch" we're now told; "We'll be in recession next year". As far as i can see we're already in one and we've been here for a while.

Spot on GStar. The borrowing that people have been allowed has been ridiculous, and now we are all suffering.

what i can't understand is while all this was going
on in the banks and lending agencies, where the fu*k
was the financial regulator and why are they not getting
sacked or jailed ?

Can only say that I am worn out with interviewing people that have never been out of work before in their lives.

This is bad.

It can't be called a recession, it has to be branded you see.

"Credit Crunch"
"7/7"
"9/11"
"War on Terror"

All major events have to be branded these days, so it can't just be called boringly a 'recession'.

But isn't it weird, I mean, it's all come about because banks made bad loans. I can't see the link between a bank selling a mortgage to someone who can't make the payments every month and big national companies making staff redundant and every sector not employing people anymore. I know they're all linked, but the connection isn't clear initially is it? Can it be that recessions are simply accelerated and worsened by talking about it happening?

Deffinately, it's all about confidence... Share prices sky rocket in "boom's" as people have more disposable income, see the prices going up and are confident it will continue.

In recession rumours run rife and a lot of shareholders get scared and begin selling thereofre demand plumits quickly as does the share prices. Look at the stock exchanges recently, so volitile; people don't know what to do, some people are scared it's all going to the wall others are picking thier companies carefully for the future... it's like a Yo-Yo. The FTSE sky rocketed the day interest rates were cut if i remember rightly, then dropped most of the way back down after a week.

oh come on that is a ridiculous theory

where are all these fucking billionaires hiding their ill gotten gains?

asset strip the fuckers and share their money out ,we 'll spend it and save the economy -the rich just like to sit on mountains of cash whilst laughing at us scrimping

hedge funds ,derivatives, futures markets just creative accouting on an epic scale

just unburden us of debt instead of Bailing out the banks just so they can start ripping us off again

It's not just the threat of unemployment and lack of confidence generally though. It's the fuel bills that are beginning to cripple.

Fuel bills have been getting worse and worse for time now, working full time and struggling to pay them, god help the people who arnt in employment
