This summer at COMS...why no concerts

Was at Reddish Supporters Club last night. One of the main things to come out of it was that the reason that there's no concerts or events at the stadium is basically because the pitch needs a rest and some major work doing to it. No stadium expansions, nothing at all on that front.

Each season the pitch has looked slightly worse than last season, because of the events on it. So it was decided this year that if we didn't let it grow for the whole summer without events on it, the pitch would be really bad next year.

Also. The question of owning the stadium came up. I read between the lines and the swerved comments, and I think we're NOT going to buy the stadium. Which I prefer to be honest. I like the name of the stadium, I don't want it to become the Ethiad Airlines Stadium or whatever. I also like the setup. Manchester City Council makes money every year off the stadium in rent, and I'm sure I heard that goes back into sports facilities in Manchester.

One other point, that some people found boring, but I thought was fantastic was that our Bluezone study scheme has been OFSTED'd. It was given the mark of 'outstanding, which no other school in the whole of Manchester has received. So quite simply, we have the best educational facility in Manchester!!!!

Oh, and if you didn't read my earlier post about the land around the stadium....an announcement will be made in about a months time about it. City aren't buying it. The only input we have is that we're on a steering group, so have a say about what happens to the land on it.

Not entirely true. There are about 5 schools to have received this accolade. I am a governor (not Mickey Francis type) at one of them. However it is something to be very proud of.
