Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to three women

I believe City fans, more than anybody else, should accept the innocent until proven guilty principle of the law. However, the timing of this, just four days after his contract expired, when everyone had known about it for two years, appears suspicious.

Really?
Shows what I know : )
Thought he’d have to be in a police station to be charged?
If he’s out of the country I doubt he’s in a rush to come back.
That is being said on twitter.. but he is scheduled to appear at court on August and his lawyer said he “welcomes the opportunity to clear his name”.

So the guy that ended Rodri’s season should have been in the Pokey?
Yes. If found guilty and since I've read things on other sites, I've alluded to the fact when posting on BM that he should never have been playing any games, let alone be available to injure Rodri.

Innocent until proven guilty, but definitely had a lot to do with taking Rodri out. He's a thug in the Rudiger mould imo.

How very convenient! This needs properly investigating as it’s way too much of a coincidence. Even if he is found not guilty.
But the press will say nada. And none of the football 'journalists ' (apart from Martin S) have any idea about investigation. Most of them imo can barely type their name, most are an insult to amoebas.

I very much doubt that the CPS was waiting for his Arsenal contract to expire before charging him.

I also don't know what Arsenal could legally do in this situation. He hadn't been charged. Are allegations enough to suspend someone?

I don't think it was wise to offer a player an extension knowing he had these potential charges hanging over him. Nor was it wise to publically back him.

In any case, like the Mendy thread it should probably be locked until after the trial.

The definition of irony......

Pretty sure the club can do what they want if they feel a player has brought disrepute upon the club? And they probably need less evidence than the courts do to convict. Yes, they may need to compensate, but they could do.

Might have been expedited if he was planning to leave the country for his next club.
