Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to three women

So, guilty or not, Arsenal won’t owe him a penny, unlike City, who did what was supposedly “the right thing” for a player who wasn’t guilty (but probably wasn’t ever going to play anyway!).

Isn’t it funny how the more you learn about a system, the more you realize how fucked up the system is…and is probably never going to improve.

What a coincidence that he is only charged after his contract expired, the conspiracy theorists might just use the fact that a very high level government official is a guest of Arsenal at every home game, enjoying the directors seats and boardroom hospitality, surely there can’t of been interference from the top to protect Arsenal

Comparing City with Mendy and Arsenal with Partey
Whilst on bail Mendy was allowed to to play it was only when he breached his bail that City suspended him as he was released with further conditions that limited his location and therefore was unable to fulfill his contract Partey didn’t breach his bail so was able or fulfill his contract

As you say, suspended him, by “doing the right thing,” then STILL had to pay him 8 figures in remuneration for releasing him BECAUSE he broke the conditions of his bail!!!

THE SYSTEM is broken.

This comes just after his contract with Arsenal has finished. No idea if there’s a correlation…

Pitifully embarrassing virtue signalling that the charge of a black man gives rise to the deployment of a white person in handcuffs as the photo that accompanies the headline.

Imagine if it was the other way round.

Mendy never played for City after he was first arrested, charged and initially refused bail.
His pay was stopped when he breeched bail conditions and found himself behind bars.

Got to agree. It's not a minor thing either. Fed up of all racism tbh but it seems racism is OK if the target is white people. I'm not sure that attitude is the right one.

“What the vast majority of people would not have known at the time was that the player wearing City’s No 22 shirt was under police investigation for allegedly raping a woman at his house. The crowd that day would not have realised Mendy had been arrested the previous November. But the people in charge at City knew — and, as we now know, decided against suspending their player”

Gotta agree that the timing of this and the amount of time it took seems suspicious. I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but it's been at least 2 years since I first heard about this accusation, and Arsenal have played him for all that time, then the second he leaves the club, the police suddenly spring into action and charge him. At the very least we've got to question why someone who might very well be a rapist is allowed to live his life as normal for 2 years while the police get their shit together. Or an innocent man in the public eye has had to live with the stigma of a rape allegation for 2 years. It's stuff like this that makes you not too surprised to find that grooming gangs got away with it for so long.

FSG Times there. Liverpool FC favourite client journalists.

Me too, it’s a cancer on society but shit like this only accentuates it I’m afraid, and gives white racists a stick to wield.

Someone will have made a conscious decision to put that photo there, not because they are prejudiced against white people but because they are crippled by crushing fear about depicting a black man being arrested in a case where a black man has been charged with rape.

It would have been far more sensible to deploy a photo which simply didn’t depict someone being arrested, especially as it’s possible that Partey may not have been handcuffed at any point.

Tbh, I'm not sure a photo / stock image of part of some random in cuffs is necessary. It's not as if there won't be plenty of pics of the alleged rapist available.

Racism is racism. Discrimination is discrimination. You shouldn't get a free pass just because you stick the word "positive" in there for example.

It’s completely unnecessary. The point is that someone has decided to put a photo with someone in handcuffs up and will have consciously decided not to put a black person in handcuffs in the photo.

Why not simply put a photo up that doesn’t show anyone in handcuffs?
