Great news - hopefully the club will review their obscene price hikes. Liverpool only sold out with a couple of days to spare too, which was abnormal.
That would show them that the Liverpool pricing was spot on although I know someone who works for the Co-Op who claims that the Sports & Social Committee there was offering free tickets for that game.

The Stoke pricing is clearly way too high to sell out but if you do the maths, selling 43,000 at £45 still brings in over £250k more than selling out at £35. You'd have to sell less than 36k tickets at the higher price before the lower price became financially worthwhile.

If this is the clubs thinking then why bother increasing the stadium capacity. If we can't sell out now we certainly won't be selling out when we get to 60k seats! The only way that will happen is if we are more competitive in our pricing. Currently we're if we're struggling to sell tickets the day before the match.

If you go on the ticket site there are approx 8 to 10 seats available in each available block and approx 20 blocks with this availability - 200 tickets ion total probably according to ticket web site - all these tickets are singles dotted all over.

Considering Stoke sent back 500 tickets on Wednesday (they only sold 1100 tickets out of 1600 allocation) I don't think City have done too bad with approx 200 individual seats left.

Stoke tickets were £44 each - and Stoke are also providing FREE transport to the match .

The tickets on sale now are returns. Some from Stoke, some from City fans. The game will be a sell out, like all league games

The club should stop price hikes.

My season ticket went up 7% this year and I can't see a reason for that with the vast amounts of TV and sponsorhip cash in the game at the top level.

There should have been no rise at all, but an inflation busting 7% shows just how much the club really cares about the fans.[/]

Exactly. The club couldn't care less if they tried. It's a real shame as the club had the opportunity to go down a different avenue from the rest regarding fans. It's hard to have the same affinity with the club and I'm not the only blue by a long way who feels the same. 5 of us are knocking the SC on the head due to prices increases after this season. Will prob get to 2/3 games a season after this.

I have to say, I feel less affinity to the club now than I did a couple of years ago. It seems like a policy to distance themselves from the fans so they can charge more / thrust advertisments in your face. I hope I never get to the point where I won't renew, but after straining my eyes to see the game on Monday, trying to block out the flashing banner adverts in my face, I kind of felt this could be the beginning of the end where it's not enjoyable anymore.

I'm starting to feel like I'm on a slippery slope too. It's worrying.

It was inevitable. The hiring of Glick was a warning sign, even though it has benefited the club commercially (yet despite our commercial side booming, it hasn't led to us being run like Bayern where commercial income means fans aren't ripped off). Gradually, we no longer become fans but customers and statistics, with the only question being "How much money can we get out of them?". Garry Cook was a plank but seemed to have a real affinity to our fans that is no longer there from the club's higher-ups. We are now basically Manchester United v.2, although at least United still let fans hang flags on level 2.

Again I think that's one of the problems, a couple of years ago the club were eager to listen to fans views, and took them on board and made changes. The last questionaire they sent out regarding the food pricing, they basically didn't give you an option to say "The food is too expensive". That's not what they want to hear. Instead they give you a trick question economics study questionaire where they can evaluate the maximum they can possibly charge you for a meat pie.

It's the same with ticket prices. They are not interested in what you can afford as a fan, what fits in to your family budget, based on your earnings and outgoings. Instead, they are interested in what is the absolute maximum you are willing to pay. They are preying on people's loyalty where fans are over-stretching themselves because they don't want to stop going to watch City because it's part of who they are.

I understand the supply and demand aspect, I understand that the club has to be profitable. But there seems to be a rampant commercialism of the club now which could definitely chase traditional fans away. It's short term thinking. They might be maximising profits this year, but I would imagine if it gets much worse there will be a lot of loyal fans who will think twice about coming next season. £56 for a home match with Stoke, it's bordering on insanity.

well I love going to City more than any time in the last 37 years. I will take the cup finals, title deciders, 6-0s, derby victories and European trips, thanks very much. Every fan in the land dreams of what has happened to us. I spent 30 years dreaming of it. I'm not going to let the best era in the club's history pass me by because I'm a moaner, thanks. I'm smelling the roses along the way.

I've very sympathy for those priced out of football. But I've no sympathy for bottom-lip-out Luddites.

If you didn't enjoy thumping Liverpool on Monday you are a clown.

I used to pay 50p at the back of the Kippax to watch third rate players in what was a glorified cow shed. And the footy was mostly shite. I loved it. It was easy to get a pint and I could skin up at half-time. But times change and so have I.

Of course, the pricing is a disgrace and the commercialisation obviously annoying. Real wages have gone down since the 2008 crash. And who wants to be bombarded with endless, witless neon adverts?

Everyone has the right to choose and I wouldn't call fellow blues for not going after I jumped ship for Dubai 4 years ago.

However, I'd give the stadium changes a chance to 'bed-in', my brothers and sisters. Someone mentioned cheap season cards in the 'gods'. Sounds like one of the correct answers. I am sure that there will be others.

We all have difficult financial times in life, especially when raising a family. I, for one, will be back for a seaso when I've done my duties for my kids, get back to Dids, and can later look forward to those OAP prices, if I'm still at the wicket, of course. There is nothing better than watching our team. We just can't all do it all the time, for our own personal reasons. But for those of you that can, you should do so. I, for one, have faith in you all. Your loyalty is beyond reproach. So is mine, I humbly submit. CTID
