Right everyone, haven't posted on here for a while and I'm not sure if I should have this in here or one of the other forums but I figured you lot could help me out. Mods feel free to move if in the wrong forum.

I'm planning a trip with a friend to fly over from the states, catch a match, and spend a few days in Manchester. Before I start looking for a cheap flight (crossing my fingers on that one...), I was wondering realistically what are the chances we could score 2-3 tickets to one of the matches? Thinking about coming out in January, as we're still at University and our schedule is pretty limited to winter break, and the only home matches that month are Tottenham and Liverpool. They're both matches I would love to go too but I'm guessing they will sell out. Do we have a shot in hell at getting tickets to either of these games through the club (keep in mind I don't have a city card or loyalty points or however that all works) or do you think I would be better off trying another match?

I know this is probably real basic for all you guys, but I've never had to do this before, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Oh, and any tips on cheap air fair would be welcome as well. Cheapest I can find so far is round trip from Philadelphia to Manchester at about $580.

For those games you will struggle as they are big games and its done on a points basis. Seeing as now anyone who doesnt have a regular membership card will have blue membership will mean there will be a lot of people with points. Even if they are on low points.

I think you need a membership card with Ticket Priority

And then you have a good chance of getting tickets. I'd register online - presumably you can do that even if you are overseas. You could also e-mail the City Ticket Office tickets@mcfc.co.uk.

Perhaps someone else who travels from overseas can reply too?

A lot will have Blue membership with priority though. So then he would be back to the points situation.

agree that you should write to the club and explain that you'll only be here for a short while and want to catch a game. failing that, keep an eye on the ticket part of this site as i'm sure there are blues out there who won't be able to make one of the games but will be more than happy to help you out.

good luck!!

BUT!- You really need to do your homework with this!, The TV games have not been decided yet so basically those 2 matches could be moved to another day. ALSO, they are both in the Europa League which means the games could be moved because of that too...ALSO again, we may have Champs League games in the knockout stages, you'll need to check the dates of these too..ALSO, it is the FA cup after Xmas so that may also affect the date of these games..Basically get your pen and pencil out and "do the math" (It's MathematicS by the way!, Maths is correct- you lot say it all wrong!).
For city centre hotel or apartment budget for around 200 quid for the two of you for 3 nights over a weekend...That's for average places.
Good luck.

Email the club, tell them you are coming from the USA and you want to guarantee tickets.

I am sure they would help you.

Try going corporate, it's not cheap but points don't come into it. I think Thomas Cook Sports do match day packages.

That's an excellent idea. The lesser suites aren't THAT dear at all, especially if you're on holiday from the US etc.

I still think all home games will end up on open sale at some point though, if last season is anything to go by. Unless we get a sudden influx of prawn munchers or tourists from Japan - or USA :-)

Hey all,

Just wanted to thank everyone who took the time out of their day to reply and help out, I really appreciate it! Also a special thanks to all those who sent the pm's, you've all been a great help. I've e-mailed the club, and I'm going to e-mail jonesy and check out the suites. Going to find a way to make this work somehow!
