Did someone mention Germans?

Worth noting Ben Hogan was in an awful head-on collision with a bus and returned to not only play but win, though he had life-long health issues after. He was younger, but med tech was a lot different 70 years ago too.

Via Wiki: “This accident left Hogan, age 36, with a double-fracture of the pelvis, a fractured collar bone, a left ankle fracture, a chipped rib, and near-fatal blood clots: he would suffer lifelong circulation problems and other physical limitations. His doctors said he might never walk again, let alone play golf competitively. While Hogan was in the hospital in El Paso, his life was endangered by a blood clot problem that led doctors to tie off the vena cava. He left the hospital on the first of April, 59 days after the accident.”

He has smashed his legs up good and proper , femur and tibia as well as ankles and a fasciotomy which is cutting open the muscle to relieve pressure

Conscious when found but in shock obvs

Long road back , hope he has no permanent disability
Why ? is his house a long way from the hospital ?

Given his skeletal issues, and thus unbalanced physical structure, it is hard to see how he ever retains anything close to normalcy again.

In a game where rotational stress through the legs, back and shoulders has already caused him untold pain and surgeries, it is hard to see how he ever fully recovers to be a top athlete again.

In all seriousness, I just hope he is strong enough in mind and body to be able to put this behind him, not become an addict through pain, and return to a productive life. He has had a fair share of personal & professional glory already tempered with addiction, so how his personality responds to this near death experience will determine the course of the rest of his life.

Good luck to him.
