if kaka signed for 3 years on 500k p/w, he would earn LESS than Keanu Reeves earned for the final Matrix movie.

Lets get Keanu Reeves instead then....is he related to Kevin?

Hat tricks are worth more than Matrix

Whatever we hopefully pay him will be a "reasonable" basic - supposed to be on 8 million a year at Milan now (160k p/w) -plus a pay rise of some description... say to bring it up to 10 million pa.
Then some kind of team performance bonus for trophies (as if) and CL/EL qualification and then some kind of "image" percentage for everybody's Kaka shirt etc.
You could imagine that a dream year of a CL/PL double would give him 10 mill plus 5 mill for image rights to give him a total 25 mill (500k p/w) and I would be happy to give him a tiny percentage of that just to see that OT banner rolled up and burned.

i don't think they'l pay himn 500k a week its just been made up by the media that. your opening line was awful though pal!

£500k per week

=£1 million per fortnight

=£2 million per month

=£24 million per year

=£72 million in 3 years...

or 0.5 x 52 x 3 = £78 million if you want to calculate it that way? But what's 6 mill between friends?

Silly, silly money. But this is City... A silly, silly club.

I'm really not sure what to make of all this. I keep wondering what I'd think if it was Everton or someone like that with all this cash...?

Hmm...

*tumbleweed rolls across the prairie*

And another bit of perspective, according to Wiki, the income of the top half dozen clubs in Europe is about £150-200 million a year more than City. (Milan is 6th highest at about $300m and City at about $100m). If Kaka and a few mates put us into that league, then we would be giving him a reasonable share of that extra cash.

And we can all smile at the thought of Tranny putting his parity pay claim in to SAF

That kind of money would put Kaka in the same league as the top tennis and golf stars.

Football lags behind what other sports pay their biggest stars.

Only Beckham has got into the pay superleage with Woods, Federer etc

Andy Murray will be looking to earn £500k per week in the next 3 years and hes in his early 20's.

Only football talks about how much players earn per week.

Jonathon Ross earns millions for talking on television.

Bono earns millions from singing

Why shouldn't footballers earn millions for playing football.

If Bankers earn millions for ........! Why shouldn't we all earn millions

You can't compare earnings in individual sports with those in team sports.

they only get paid for the season i think.. its 12m a year or something like that is it not?

thats a good point that, we are already a very wealthy club in terms of income and we're never in the champions league or winning titles. if it takes us to sign one player on a ridiculous wage for 3 years to encourage others to come and help us get to the top, bringing in millions more, then so be it. i think it would be nearer the 200k a week mark though rather than 500.
