It is just like English fans going to Spain and doing the Barcelona stadium tour.

Do you think that barca, Madrid, German teams fans are whining about english fans attending games??

If I went to one of Madrid's biggest games of the season, got tickets diverted to me as a priority in front of fans who go regularly, spent all game supporting the opposition (or at least getting giddy about their star players), started blocking aisles and seats in order to get the best selfie angle and was openly giddy when the opposition scored - all in home end - then I'd expect to get kicked out and, if not, be in line for a kicking from the home fans.

But that is exactly what will happen en mass in a couple of weeks when Barca play here.

Not that I condone anyone getting a kicking or would ever be involved in it but I used to see mouthy away fans get removed by stewards from the home end every week. But there is a policy in place to turn a blind eye to it at certain games now because the club actively encourage the tickets getting into the hands of neutrals/ half-arsed away fans ahead of blues.

Oh, and if I was at a match in the Nou Camp, in the home end, I wouldn't be arrogant and sad enough to start waving a St George's flag about - assuming that anyone in the ground gives a shit about where I am from or who I am 'representing'. There's not much fucking weirder than someone desperately wanting everyone in the ground - a ground where no-one gives a shit about it - to know where they are from.
absolutely spot on, I got to the ground early yesterday & you could tell what it was going to be like, half -half scalfs everywhere, daytrippers from all round the world, tourists , was just like the swamp. Thought I was at a Champions league game by mistake , the fact that City are actively selling these tickets to people who don't even support us at the expence of City fans is disgusting & the club should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe I`ll have to fuck the Arsenal games off as well as the Champions league ones next year.

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

Ticket prices are not helping, £60 I believe on level 2 yesterday, not everyone can afford season tickets.

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

I swear to god the few behind me I am guessing Scandinavians, so irritating to listen to, and one actually started laughing when the second goal went in yesterday, then waiting to get down the steps after the game, a woman was rather pleased looking and clapping the arsenal players as they pranced about in front of the travelling support!

What do you suggest?

Bad example re Barca. Pretty sure there are several St George flags on display at the Nou Camp every home game - one in particular has a prominent spot behind one of the goals.

As for Madrid, my boss (a Rag) took in one of their games against Deportivo a few years back and he said the section he was in was rammed with tourists. Agree about not supporting the opposition though - surely commonsense dictates that if you take in a game not involving your own team, you should support whichever team's end you're in. Those 2 French blokes who filmed the last few minutes of the 1-6 at The Swamp from the United end and pissed their sides laughing as our last 3 goals went in are an honourable exception though!

St George is the patron saint of Barcelona - hence why the red cross is in the club badge.

Yes, I know that - hence why I pointed out to jma that his example about a St George flag not being welcome in Barcelona is a bad one to use.

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

If a United fan wants to stick his money into our club, then more fool him.

There are bigger issues that need attending to anyway. We need to fuck City Square off. Fucking total embarrassment. It's a football club, not Alton Towers.

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

All of the successful english clubs over the last 20 years or so have had to put up with tourists and i agree they can be a pain at times but most are football (if not city) supporters. They wont go away because they want to be part of the experience and visit the home of the champions and the place where the PLs most iconic moment took place.

What do we do, embrace them, ignore them or be rude to them? They are human beings for god sake who may not be used to the way we behave at a game but they do deserve some respect. If one sat in front of me with a 'rag bag' i would have asked him/her what it was all about- and advised them to cover it out of my view... please! I had a spanish guy sit alongside me a few years ago when when we played Real Madrid at home. He couldnt speak a word of english but he understood when i advised him not to get overexcited if they scored- which they did and he didnt. He shook my hand at the end of the game and went on his way- no problem. What are we, animals or just supporters of the club we love for too short a moment in its history?

At Barcelona the top tier is known as 'the tourists tier'. Maybe we need the club to encourage one-off visitors to use one area of the stadium only? The thing is our club is growing and we may not like everything that changes along the way but the tourist fan is here to stay.

They weren't alone, it was such pathetic defending I probably laughed as well. I thought we'd left that shite behind, but that defending was like being back in the late 90's it was so poor.
