Today's shooting in America thread

The clear implication from your post (at least as I read it) is that the US‘s attractiveness to immigrants somehow trumps the corrosive effects of its gun culture.
Your connotation does not accurately reflect my denotation, but full marks for both effort and getting “trumps” in there!

The US has many, many problems, with guns and religion being two of them, IMHO.

Even knowing this, emigration to the US remains unabated.

FWIW, many people think gun crime is so rampant as to be everywhere, all the time. It isn’t, but like Bogeyman, it lurks just around the corner…it’s just that no-one knows which corner or when it’s going to jump out at you!

I’m not implying that is good, only that there are hotspots with areas the size of the entire UK in between, plus the occasional nut job where no-one expected it!

At a purely emotional level, though mass shootings of children is actually by volume only a very small component of the issue, there is something very peculiar in watching a highly developed country show such apparent indifference to preventable deaths of children.
One man’s indifference is another man’s reluctant resignation to the political stalemate that causes it!

Appreciate the conversation, but gotta go fly the UAL 844 GRU-ORD now! Cheers!

Don't fly over Idaho, I know it's a little west of you but if you do, turn the noise down please

Good news from Philadelphia today! We had a 3 year-old girl, her mother and another man get shot but all three are in stable condition. I mean, how cool is it that nobody died? It's like getting shot didn't even matter this time. I imagine the NRA to jump on this one and talk about how guns aren't deadly.

I for one wouldn't want to test the theory.
