Tonights game

we have a lot more options with the players coming through and being given then chance and SWP back on form. Squad wise we should be alright with a couple more additions.

Another big positive is how confident Lescott was on the ball. Perhaps it was against non-Premier League standard, but he was very much in control and willing to move forward with the ball at his feet.

Hard to judge anyone due to the shocking pitch....shouldnt have been played but understand we are 'protecting the brand' by doing so, hopefully no harm done if Yaya is OK.

General thoughts;

We need a good back-up keeper, we were spoiled by having Shay, but now we need a good #2 - Taylor isnt that IMHO

Kolarov was poor.........again and was caught way up field for their goal.
McGiven was nowhere near the pace, he doesnt look up to the standard required, but judgement is reserved
Dzeko's miss was simply dreadful, these are the games that are meant to get his confidence restored FFS!

Other than these negatives, I thought we did OK (again considering the conditions) with some decent highlights...
Weiss did very well and looked well lively
VK looked as assured as ever
Savic looks a great signing
Clichy - ditto
Balo as always looked like he could cause a riot in an empty house!
SWP had his best game for a long time and really impressed, with a peach of a goal, turning back the clock with that one!

As a training exercise it was worthwhile, if Yaya is OK, and i am looking forward to giving it to Beckham and Co on Sunday.

One last point, what the fook was that about with all the rag top wearing cnuts in the crowd and waving said scum flags, talk about provoking a response the sad twats! Hope none of the decent numbered blue contigent took the bait..........not sure i wouldnt have done with the plastic rag low life pricks!

I'm still wondering if perhaps Dzeko's shot hit a divot as it came off his foot. Perhaps it's wishful thinking.

I still think people are using a bit of confirmation bias when it comes to our fullbacks. None of them performed poorly really last night. Kolarov was behind because he was overlapping when our lackadaisical midfield decided to give away possession for the billionth time. Clichy didn't really get forward a lot either. Almost all our attacking in the second half went through the right side and SWP and rightfully so.

That said, I think Clichy will get the start because he's a much better possession passer. We're a bit desperate for that to be honest.

dont know if anybody else saw this but i noticed that when joe hart had a goal kick he passed it to one of our defenders instead of booting it up the field, the reason im bring this up is im not quite sure why we bought dzeko if we arn't going to use his ariel abilty by aiming for him with goal kicks and not crossing it

May have been protective of his plant foot on that dodgy pitch.

please tell me the last time you saw a striker good in the air score a header from a goalkeepers assist?

One of the commentators called us a "franchise" like we're sodding McDonald's or something.

*weeps*

Anyway, they've got some big damn moles over there. At times I could only see the top of Sweep's head.

I know it, but it just grinds my gears. Juventus v Chivas at Carter Finley end of July mate btw.

best players were Weiss (not much end product, though the Dzeko miss wasn't his fault), SWP, and Guidetti. Milner and Barry also good.

worst IMO were Kolarov (Clichy looked miles ahead of him), De Jong (seemed very unfit, was more of a 3rd CB than usual last night he was so immobile), and McGivern, who was nonexistent.

Boyata is a bad, bad fullback.
