Tonking

we'll tonk the rags at the swamp.
We won't, we can't... the refs won't allow it. 89th minute, Silva one on one with VdS when all of a sudden the camera pans to Fergie. 'aye', he says whilst giving a little nod. All of a sudden the 4th official dons a batman mask and rugby tackles Silva to the ground. United don't lose, we lose 2 points. Tis a dead cert. ;-)

Another ten minutes to play then...now i wonder what could happen in that time

Every game people predict these 3-0, 4-0 and 5-0 wins.... makes me wonder have they even seen us play?

having read mancinis commetns over the last couple of days (and they are on the OS and on SSN) i wouldnt be suprised to see a return to playing the extremely reserved, over cautious football that we were playing at the start of the season....RM is now scared after recent results and is going to retreat into his shell!!!

He will go for 1-0's ans as he and others rightly point out its the same 3 pts whether you win 1-0 or 10-0.....HOWEVER there is a huge risk in playing this way....you are always at risk of a lucky striker, deflected goal, contentious decision going against you and suddenly from 3 pts you have 1 pt.....or even no points (ie sunderland away and the last minute bent penalty)

also trying to do this against the better teams....esp utd and spurs is hugely risky.....tryingt o contain teams like this is very difficult and inviting pressure onto you like mancinis tactics do will very rarely result in 3 pts.......

since RM came in, how many time have we beaten chelski utd spurs or arsenal....i can remember beating chelski at least twice....but the others????

I think RM is making a huge mistake going ultra conservative/boring/negative...call it what you want....

if we dont get 4th he will deserve to get sacked in my opinion after making his tactics clearly known. Im disappointed as it appeared just before xmas that he had taken the shackles off and that we might start to play to our potential...but looking at recent comments it seems that he is reverting to type

This could also cause more problems with players....I believe that there are some that think we are capable of more and that is the problem that they have with RM...and I for one agree with them....but maybe this is why RM brings in "yes men" type players.

Fuck knows why everyone is so surprised by this thread, we will tonk someone at some point. We've scored 8 goals in our last two home games and last time out against Wolves we absolutely ripped through them time and time again. West Brom are the perfect team to get it too as they play nice football and will have a go at us meaning we don't have to get through 10 defenders to score. They're also on a rapid decline and are in big trouble to go down despite fans and the media thinking they're this wonderful team.

............and their away form has them conceding an average of 2 goals a game

We could score?

I am certainley expecting a positive reaction from us today, we and club have seen enough evidence of what has been going wrong over the last few games to be able to put it right, I will take a 1-0 win

Any win will do, be nice to have a clean sheet. Before the Brum game we had 14 games left, if we average two points a game we end up with 73 points enough for top four, we need a win today to keep that 2 point a game average. It doesn't matter to me how we play for the rest of the season it is all about results.

i'm with the op, we will leather someone before long.our biggest threat is not bob and his tactics its the refs, they give our opponants so much confidence and belief when they go un carded, soft pens and booking our players only. you can tell the way teams come out for the second half that their manager has spotted the refs antics and rammed that down his players throats.bob dropped some proper clangers v brum but at the end of the day that handball would have give us 3-1, do you think birmingham would have come back or indeed had the heart to carry on the fight after that cos i dont.
So its down to the refs that we've not tonked someone yet, and not the failings of our £250m squad? I would say the latter, and I say that because there is no change in play, its all through the middle and every single team in the league knows it now.

It was the same with Sven...we were winning most games and cruising until teams found if they shut down elano on the left we had no answer...we need a plan b...having said that when all players are back fit and playing well we should have more options.
