I don't know if this feature has been removed or is this just me, but previously the tooltip would show the first x amount of characters of the thread, this seems to have stopped and it now just says weather there are unread posts or not.

Yep, should be back within the next day or so. We're adding small features on a drip feed as we build them into the new code and test them on the test environment. The hover thing is the second highest priority as we know how useful it is.
