Torres on joining Chelsea:

Just seen a 'comment' from a Scouse fan on YouTube:

''His armband lied, he was no red, Torres, Torres

He's just a rentboy like they said, Torres, Torres

Into our backs he plunged his knife

I hope John Terry shags his wife

Fernando Torres, Chelsea's new number 9''

Aaaaaw, poor lickle dippers - my hearts bleeds....not.

Now that song is brilliant and in defence of the Scousers it is absolutely gutting when your hero leaves. We've all experienced it and it's not nice, City fans should remember it's not that long ago our hero handed in a transfer request.

Or maybe he has decided that history is not quite as important as originally inferred and it is more about success. now whilst he still has a few years in the game.

Have a feeling its more to do with money and what London can offer his partner etc etc.

If he was after success especially in Europe and relatively quickly at that he would have gone back to Spain or Italy.

Yes, but who would have paid £50m there at this moment in time? As good as he is, it is a risk because of the injury record. We didn't bid (understandably) so it only really left Chelsea surely? You make a good point about money and the London scene as opposed to Liverpool, but I feel that wanting success also played a large part in his transfer request.

Liverpool probably are a bigger club than Chelsea.

Are or were?

Fernando says he has moved to the next stage?

You would surely acknowledge that he has far more chance of winning medals at Chelsea than at Liverpool?

Agreed however liverpool are a bigger club than chelsea imo, ok they are struggling and in transition but they are still a huge club. Fcuking chelsea they used to get 15k gates.

I would say they still are. They may be struggling of late, and Chelsea at the moment are a more favourable destination, but they still have a bigger fanbase, record of previous success, and prestige, which makes them still a very big name in football. Chelsea couldn't sell-out their FA Cup semi-final with Blackburn in 2007.

I think Torres has done the dirty on dipperpool but once again it's all history this, history that but i've never seen any team on an open top bus to parade their History!

what happened to roman being disgusted with the money city were spending and didn t he promise platini that they wouldn t do it anymore

Why has Torres done the dirty on Liverpool and let them down? If anything Liverpool have let Torres down, they signed him and promised him leagues titles and champions league titles, he did his bit by scoring shed loads but was let down by the club signing shite around him that led to them not only not winning league titles and champions league titles but not even competing in them. Not only that but they rushed him back from every injury he had because they were desparate for him to play and in return ruined his world cup chances by being an out of form bit part player.

Torres is 26, at the peak of his life and has never won a thing in club football, why shouldn't he go to a team that can provide all the things his ability and talent deserves?

Fucking scousers, hate them as much as the rags.

^^This. He owes them nothing.

They persuaded him to stay in the summer on the understanding that things would improve. Although I have no doubt that the long term future of the club is much more secure than it was six months ago, what good is that to him if his career has passed him by while he waits for the club to fight its way back?

Everyone has the right to make the most of themselves in life. Torres is no different.

When people talk about players showing loyalty to clubs, I allow myself a wry smile. From the age of 12-13 these players see their contemporaries discarded like used wankrags if they aren't deemed to be good enough or if they get injured. Torres will no doubt have played with lads 15 years ago who are stacking shelves right now. Footballers are all too aware how paper thin the foundations of clubs' putative loyalty are.

He is 26 and wants to win trophies. Isn't that what drove Daglish to leave Celtic, and ulimately why Torres himself left Athletico?

Liverpool fans are widely regarded (for some unknown reason) by the media to be the most fair minded and knowledgable in the game. To me they are nothing more than deluded spoilt children who cannot even begin to see the level of their own hypocricy.

Who the fuck do they think they are?

Don't get me started on "player loyalty in modern football". Players have always moved to bigger and better clubs since the game began. If the didn't then Summerbee would of won nothing at Swindon, Bell nothing at Bury and Hart nothing at Shrewsbury.

and Gerrard at Liverpool! (since 2005 or was it 2006?)

What are the odds on him getting a hatrick against them at the weekend?

Fernando Torres leaves Liverpool leaving the fans disgusted over his lack of loyalty but are happy with the signing of Andy Carroll who has left the Newcastle fans disgusted over his lack of loyalty.
