Looks like he's starting to blame others for his own shortcomings. I still think it's bizarre that a model pro who was one of the best strikers in the world can be so out of form for so long. I've argued with people on here and said that he'll be back to his best before long but the longer his poor form drags on the more you wonder.

I still think he'll start banging them in before too long, too good a player not to. Makes our Serg look a snip at £38 mill though doesn't he!

Chelsea Manager, Andre Villas-Boas says he will look closely at comments reportedly made by Fernando Torres criticising the pace of his fellow Chelsea team mates

The player was quoted as branding Chelsea's "older" players as "very slow", and hailing new team-mate Juan Mata as a necessary signing.

Torres was speaking to the official website of Spain's Primera Liga last week, with an English translation later appearing on the forward's personal website.

Following the comments Andre Villas-Boas sought an explanation from Torres, who claimed his words were not translated accurately on his own website.

Chelsea is planning to obtain a copy of the interview in its original Spanish form.

Villas-Boas said he would warn Torres not to speak so candidly about the club in future if the translation did stand up

"We'll see if things play exactly as they are in that interview," the manger said.

The interview was authorised by Chelsea, otherwise Torres would have been facing a fine.

I dunno... Fowler never got back to his Liverpool best after leaving them and neither did Owen. Maybe he's a third burn out? I hope I'm wrong, for the player's own sake, but red scouse do now have a history (la) of killing their star strikers with the burden of over-expectation.

I'll say this in Torres defence: at least he didn't stoop so low as to take it out on the little kiddies in the stadium.
;)

Usual media spin and sensationalism. I understand what Torres actually said was more like Chelsea's style involved a slow build up but AVB was getting them playing quicker.

That's a bit different to what's being reported

Ahh fair enough, looks like I fell for it. Still doesn't look a happy chappy though?

Torres wouldn't be able to stoop that low without injuring himself ;-)

mata has scored more goals than him and hes only been here a month or so. so its nothing to do with slowness or aged players.
