Tory MP Nick Fletcher blames crime in young men on female Doctor Who

Since Tennant left the job the viewing figures have plummeted, the new format has helped it die but it was slowly fading anyway IMO.

Yes, it does look that way, it probably won’t last much longer.

The biggest problem for Dr Who is the age group who used to watch it mainly are now into other things, ie games console related. Families gathering around the tv on a Saturday evening to watch the lame offerings from BBC and ITV seems to be a thing of the past.

Oh, and obviously the fact the Dr is now female. That's sure to rile up a fair few...

Let’s be honest, no one’s going to believe a time traveler is female.

So the conclusion is, it lost half its viewers because of poor scripts.
Glad that's sorted.

If you are implying that the casting of Jodie Whittaker did not go down well with some Dr Who purists then I would imagine that this is also a contributory factor when it comes to the viewing figures.

For example, just checked the imdb reviews for the series Foundation.

I have never read Asimov's novels (his prose is too dry and stodgy for me) but the fact that two leading roles were gender-swapped has not gone down well with some of those that have.

Fortunately, good acting and scripts do tend to win out. And Lou Llobell is very good in the main role.

It's the same with Shakespeare. Helen Mirren does a pretty good job as Prospero in the movie version of The Tempest. An actress of lesser calibre may not have fared quite so well.

Once again, I would also state that dramas are usually successful when we can identify or empathise with the main characters, regardless of their/our race/gender.

Going back to Dr Who, I wasn't impressed with what little I have seen of Whittaker or the storylines.

Titled that he blamed a female Dr Who. He said no such thing.

I do agree with him on pandering PC politics nonsense. Every advert nowadays has a black dad, white ginger mother, lesbian daughter, son that loves his pronouns and a transvestite cat (can I even use that word now without angering some chubby 20 something with blue hair and no employment history?).

All of these diversity officers and inclusion committees just make everything seem farcical and I actually instantly notice it. Meaning the family, in an advert for example, screams PC and it just seems fake.
I bet your dog shits himself when the adverts start at your gaff

Dr Who on ice or maybe Dr Who does strictly come dancing could be a big hit.

It's time for the time Lord to put on his dancing spats and jiggle his/her/they way into the hearts and minds of the British Saturday night generation.
