Tour de France 2019

That was an awesome display. Let's hope he is clean but as has been said, the smell of rat in the air looms large!

Just checked out Aliphilippe's palmares and they're not too bad. Few classic wins and KOM win in last year's TdF plus a few stage wins. He also won the Tour of Britain last year and has won the Tour of California. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. The way he's riding and his team too I can see him riding the Yellow Jersey all the way to Paris.

No chance he has improved so much in a year, none. We've seen it with swimmers and sprinters and it's rare they haven't doped.
I really hope Thomas claws it back in the hills

Great TT today, I'm not going to cast nasturtiums about doping, there is no point in watching it if every standout performance is questioned.

As regards Thomas V Alaphillipe I think the teams behind these two are going to decide the outcome. The Ineos/Sky machine is formidable, not sure if Quick Step can match it man for man. Tomorrow's stage will be very interesting. If Alaphillipe can keep the yellow Jersey there is no reason why he can't go all the way.

Yes he didn't look he usual upbeat self. I think he knows he has got a fight on his hands

It's disappointing that the first thought with a result like this is that he's a cheat, but it's difficult to justify it otherwise.

He seems/seemed like someone you wanted to root for, but the margin of victory just raises so many questions.

He's in good form, and the route suited him, but this is not and has never been his specialism. He and his team will point to him losing weight and hard work to explain the improvement legitimately, but he'll now forever have the same question marks as the likes of Froome hanging over him, even if he struggles in the next few days.

I interpreted Geraint's response as him calling Alaphillippe a cheat without saying it, rather than being concerned about the race.
