Apparently TCR lane changing didn't work that well and early versions gave you an electric shock if you picked the cars up! I think quite a few butlins had those massive versions.

My younger brother had it. One controlled car was faster than the other. Two "jam" cars were supposed to go round the track automatically but were shunted more often than not. Car pick ups needed cleaning regularly to keep lane change working. Worst of all, track was walled. You'd just drive flat out most of the time and it soon got boring tbh

I had one of these, bought brand new for me late 60s. My siblings and all our kids played with it too. Still going strong. Unquestionably lead-based paint, but not done any of us any harm. Yet.
