I was thinking, could the club/Thomas Cook run a "football special" to Paris for tomorrow's game, ie hired a Eurostar and ran it direct from Manchester ?

HAVE!! No because there's no facility for border control in Manchester. It's so easy anyway train to Euston and five minute walk to St. Pancras.

So what would of stopped it , is the lack of passport control in Manchester.

Nice idea not actually possible though at relatively short notice. Specific trains use Chunnel with drivers trained to drive em who dont drive trains north of London, drivers have to have route knowledge as well train knowledge. Could have chartered from London s'pose but wouldn't fill it with only 2k match tickets to sell. Easy to book own tickets anyway and you can have a drink.
