You could go from guide bridge train station too and get off at ashburys
He would be going a mile out of his way just to get to that station...The 216 is about a min walk from that travelodge..

Or a taxi as john said.

Granted, but it would be cheaper and or quicker than both those options

simply wait 12 months for the metro to be finished and hop on a tram straight to the stadium more or less a door to door service :)

or if you don't want to wait 12 months i'd suggest the train from guide bridge the 216 wouldn't be too bad on the way there if you don't mind setting off very early to beat the traffic but the way back is an absolute ball ache they close the road to allow coaches through and traffic is at a stand still for up to 45 mins after the match plus getting on the bus is a challenge in its self with hundreds of people trying the same thing... admittedly the train is also cramped but at least you won't get stuck in traffic. walking it's about 4 miles so about an hour but theres certain areas i wouldn't fancy walking through at night on my own. taxi would be about a tenner but it'd be a ball ache finding one back. I usually drive and park about half a mile up the road out of the traffic tbf but i'm getting the train on wed for a few drinks

The guide bridge station is a mission from the travel lodge

Hotel to Guide Bridge 15 mins walk > train to Ashburys 6 mins £1.70 > Ashburys to ground 10 mins . I live just at the back of the Travelodge and have started doing this for every home game as its easier than the bus / car . Sometimes you don't get asked for a ticket on the train either !

So around an hour really makins sure you get to the station on time, waiting for the delayed train etc

Just pay the £5/8 for a joe

You never have to pay on that train route.

Its hit and miss

Ok - I've never paid on that train route!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's only 6 minutes, so look where the guard gets off when he opens the doors at Guide Bridge and get on as far away as possible from him (usually the first set of doors). The return journey is always packed and the guard never comes down the carriages.
