Travel to the USA

Mr Fancy Pants!

I’m writing this on my balcony on Marco Island! Was up in Naples this afternoon doing a little bikini shopping with the Mrs!
Ha, I hope the bikini fit you!
missing Naples like mad and the weather is great this time of the year
hopefully can get out there soon once the restrictions are lifted.
What's the news about about us Brits being allowed back in the US ?
i read somewhere that Biden was going to announce foreign travellers being allowed back middle of May and some sort of travel corridor with the UK

You have to decide... east coast or west coast from Orlando?!

East: Head straight east on the Beeline to Cocoa Beach, tour Space Center, great beaches. From there you just pick your beach towns. Drive through (and avoid) Ft Lauderdale & Miami, unless you want to say you’ve been, and stop at multiple Keys along the way. Marathon is about half way down and is a decent size.m, before you get to Key West.

West: St Pete Beach, Sarasota is a great little city, Ft Myers/Fort Myers Beach (I recommend Coconut Point Resort!), Sanibel Island, Naples, Marco, then Alligator Alley with a stop at a Gator Place for the kids, maybe an airboat tour, then it dumps you out on the East Coast at Miami...and Bob’s your uncle!
Ive been to siesta village near sarasota a couple of times , so dont want to go again, though i did love it so would like something similar, small village , few bars and restaurants in walking distance

Looks like it was money saved reading what you put, it was only adults going though. We are still thinking of re booking for Chicago as it’s been on the list of Cities we want to visit in the States . We did Florida about 10 times when our daughter was young so not to bothered about going back there but we enjoy the States and Canada so hoping to visit as much as we can .
If you do Chicago, plan some time to visit the Michigan Lakeshore towns OR head up to Door County. Also, about an hour north of Chicago is Lake Geneva, which is a very nice place.

Maybe I take Chicago for granted a bit, but with its location being so far from anywhere “touristy,” it’s hard for me to wrap my head around coming here for a vacation!

I’d definitely make a plan to ensure there was something decent to do every day, and if the weather is good, it can be great! Hell, we even have Oak Street Beach downtown!

There are some great high end restaurants, some great LOCAL FLAVOR restaurants, and one of our family favorites (Grand Lux Cafe) is right downtown. There’s also drinks at the top of the John Hancock overlooking the Lake, tons of music locations, and cultural activities (sports, museums and theaters) out of the wazoo!

Wait...I take it all back...Chicago is a GREAT place to visit for a week or two! After 30 years I’ve just done all of that! My bad! :-)

The bikini fits great, thanks!

Wx today was glorious. 80s, not a cloud in the sky, nice light breeze and the water was perfect for getting out of the heat!

I think foreign travel is very much in flux, as countries try to grasp what kind of reciprocity they can allow.

As a pilot, we have “essential worker” exemptions, but only for flights. In some countries, like Oz, they escort you to a hotel room, let you in, don’t even leave you with a key and tell you what time they will bring breakfast, lunch & dinner! They also post guards at the door to ensure you don’t leave the hotel!

China is much, much worse, to the point that we don’t fly DIRECT anymore! Fly to somewhere like Tokyo, then next day fly to Beijing and back to Tokyo. Chinese won’t let you off the aircraft, and bring the fuel sheet up to the cockpit in a Hazmat suit!

Just as you long to come here, I long to get back over there! Been longest stretch for years!

up by Smokehouse bay, some lovely waterfront homes there, realy missing te place and need to get back, i think maybe this time next year fingers crossed, booked Tenerife for November so we'l see if that comes off first
We are down on the far end of Collier Blvd on Caxambas Pass, just past Cape Marco.

Tin City, Naples has all that, unless you want something like Sanibel.

Never been to Anna Marie. What’s the gig?
Very posh! But nice bars / restaurants.

I spend half a day each week with work on Longboat Island with beautiful beaches but there is absolutely no where to park if you are not staying on the island. Basically a legal form of apartheid.
Publix supermarket is the only place you can park without getting towed!

As beautiful as it is, With a vast amount of condos Longboat key is more residential than Lido or Siesta key, a trip to publix or the dry dock for dinner is all that I normally use it for.
