Tribute to the Kippax

Many happy memories of the Kippax, as mentioned previously the Boro semi was just about as loud as I remember it, packed solid too, pretty sure this was when the away fans only had the back section and City were on the terrace in front of them and round the corner to the Platt Lane stand, when did that end?

Went in the away pen a couple of times just to see what it was like, did anyone do this? First time was against West Ham, plenty of projectiles flying back and to for most of the game, difficult getting out and away from the Hammers without being picked off by blues hanging around dog shit alley.

Plenty went in the away ends or home sections when away (side at Maine Road) or infiltrated the escorts

Yeah but I can't remember it kicking off in there, although I'm sure it will have if blues were doing it and mobbing up in there, must have been too pissed to notice.

It kicked off loads mate. (late 70's, early 80's)

Pez and his little mob of flick head perry boys was a crew that did it a lot..backs to the wall scrapping well outnumbered

More than any signing or any Cup we could win, I wish we could have a large safe standing stand along the side of the pitch!
All this “end” stuff is bullshit, the vocal stand being along the side of the pitch was iconic and individual to us.
Maine road was Iconic but individual to us. Wasn't the only side stand though where the main singing came from. The old Leeds road ground of Huddersfield Town had a very similar stand, albeit smaller than our Kippax.

Yep, too pissed to notice.

What about the section in front of the away pen, when did that get blocked off, can you remember?

Didn’t she have a brother who wore same denim jacket? Badges all over?

Kippax Deb was well game

She did have a brother yes, but I can’t remember what he looked like. Deb was actually quite friendly, but very ‘hard’ looking. As game as any of the crew back then.

She had a bit of Suzi Quattro about her I think, or maybe it was just the denim, was a good sort though.
