We don't actually know yet what the charges are in this case. It could be a campaign finance violation, or it could be falsifying business records (including tax fraud). All we really know is that it involves a porn star and a sum of money. We'll just have to wait and see.

I do worry that this is exactly what he wants.

There will be a lot of Trump loyalists panicking right now. Trump will definitely go down swinging, and anyone who ever crossed him, or wronged him in anyway is getting thrown under the bus, and members of his own family aren't safe either.
