Trump in Stormy Indictment Popcorn Fest.

I just cannot grasp what people see in the likes of Trump and Johnson. It baffles me.

This is not a 'party political' point. There have been loads of Republican Presidents and Tory PMs in the past. I may not have agreed with them on most points. In some cases I detested them. But they were rational creatures, not obvious liars and charlatans. Most could, at the least, be respected. Some, like Thatcher, were undeniably intelligent, even if you did not agree with them.

I stress 'obvious' liars and charlatans. Yet literally millions of people worship, or have worshipped, these utter clowns.

There is something deeply wrong with society and 'democracy' when shit like this rises to the top.
Great post. Of course, Thatcher will always divide opinion. If you're a miner or Irish for example (that's not an exhaustive list by the way!) then you'll understandably loathe her but I don't ever recall her riding roughshod over our democracy in the way Johnson has, or Trump has over in the States. She also wasn't a serial liar or a bungling idiot, yet millions of people on both sides of the Atlantic appear not to give a shit about any of that.

I don't actually think it's as complicated psycologically as it seems. Daft people simply don't recognise that they aren't serious leaders. Immoral people admire that they are immoral. So the people who follow these populists are either in the lower quartiles of the population in terms of intelligence or in the lower quartiles in terms of moral standards, or both.

Just put the Sky News feed on and there is a lone protester outside.

I say protester, it's actually an older middle aged Afro Caribbean woman ranting about Jesus, Israel and the whites, Jewish and Spanish being persecuted. Holding a picture of Trump as Jesus.

Anyone know if she is a relation of @Bigga?

I keep wondering about this also, I don’t know exactly when or how it happened but am constantly aware that something negative has happened to democracy. My best guess is social media being weaponized by these warped ideologies but I’m sure there were other triggers.
