Morning everyone

I'm having an extension built and one of the Labourers working on the job is Josh Thatcher. Now anyone who watched the Academy teams for as long as I did may remember Josh Thatcher he is still only 21 and would love to get back in the game.
Does anyone know if City have an old players support network, Josh is realistic and realises he's probably not going to get in at City's level but would love to get back in the game at any level.

Any help or contact details would be greatly appreciated, I've researched club contacts but they all just give one number. He really just needs a contact with contacts to talk to and set him back on track, hopefully get a few trials.

Go and play semi pro and if he is good enough he will get noticed.

Jolean Lescott works in a role supporting the academy players out on loan. I know he does go the extra mile for players released by the club as well. He could be worth contacting. Really, the only other option is to get some videos of his games, sign up with an agent and get his name about. He'll have to start way down the pyramid, but at 21 - if he isn't playing pro-football, he should consider playing for fun more than anything else!

Good luck to him.

Thanks for the replies, he's sent an email to the club for the attention of Joleon Lescott, hope the fella gets a second chance somewhere.

I'm slightly surprised if he was considered good enough for our academy at one point another club didn't snap him up.

A club like Altrincham or similar would be ideal and he would be in the shop window too.

He should contact Alty, Hyde United, Curzon Ashton, Ashton United, Staylbridge Celtic, Droylsden, Maine Road, Radcliffe Borough asking for a trial.
Don't think I missed any other local team out ;)
Oh Abbey Hey and Chorlton & West Didsbury

This - Basically he needs to play.

Many of the teams mentioned above will have there own very strong youth systems. Part of the problem is the prem / championship clubs release loads of kids every year and the teams down the leagues are also producing there own so they will be reluctant to take on young players out of other clubs. Loads drop out of football at that age point. Any semi pro club is worth a go.
