Turnstiles Broke! Massives Queues Outside The Ground

It was handled absolutely appallingly. From about 2.40 until 3 o clock there was fuck all information being given out. Stewards and more annoyingly, coppers just stood there scratching their arses not giving a fuck. Crowd gets bigger and bigger. Hundreds of people then inevitably start to get pissed off. Cue loads of coppers arrive to calm down a situation they could have nipped in the bud 15 minutes ago by explaining what was going on, ask for patience and let people in slowly and calmly by checking season tickets manually. Five past three comes and they open the big gates and everyone surges forward to get in. Had to pick my 6 year old lad up to keep him safe. Heads should roll for this.

That's a bit worrying given a past event when that's hapenned.

Fortunately I arrived at the ground early today, but the queues for entrance B were ridiculous, even at 2.25pm.

Thanks Squirty, I had to sit down after 25 mins & then get back up & start queuing again. But what added insult to injury as they say, was when I eventually got to the turnstile they then insisted on searching my bag!! I don't think I have ever before been rude to any of the staff because it is their job after all, but it was 17 mins into the game, I'd been queuing that long so I just said "you must be joking" & he said "if you don't open your bag I can't let you in"! Fair enough I suppose but then I was told that other people had been waved through!

However, being me, some guys who had been behind me said "come on love you were before us" to get me back in the queue, (after he'd searched my bag) & I said, "I'm really sorry I'm never normally rude to people & he was only doing his job" & they were saying you've nothing to apologise for!! I suppose it should have been him I apologised to not them but hey ho!

Another example of the ludicrous OTT security. I would be asking for a refund for this game. It's awful customer service.

I get the need for security but christ we go to town on it. Are all clubs doing this crap?

Why do they check individuals going in yet I can walk through the car park and stand next to 500 or more people at the main entrance literally 20 yards from the first team coming off a bus and am not checked? Would I not be as likely to set off my "bomb" if I had one there or even city square where there are 1000 people yet I go unchecked.

It's ridiculous. Whoever is in charge of this at city needs sacking. Common sense is just completely lacking

Would you say I was wrong if I said it was 95 percent full today? So I make that about one in 20 fans missing?? The club announced about 4 times a system where clubs get money off next years season ticket for selling at games try can't make it. Most people miss 2-3 a season due to issues work etc. If it is only costing you 30 quid a lot will just not bother with seat exchange. What could the club do better to make people attend?

You seem intent on digging your heels in with your "everything's wonderful" mantra but you're just coming across as a bit of an ignorant dick to be honest. You were there today, open your fucking eyes and ears and if you do nothing else you could try empathising with fellow City fans, a number of whom are troubled both in terms of the specific operational ssues seen this afternoon and the broader sense of a growing disconnect between the Club and it's core fan base.

Somebody decided to do proper searches on everyone going in with no exceptions I was watching them use metal detectors on people and search bagsas well, at 1430 a decision was made to stop people only having bags searched the queues were huge round the stadium, I don't know who has decided in the airport type security because it's a joke. I know there are security risks but 70 year old Ernie and 8 year old Emily aren't terrorists ffs, use a bit of sense City and sort it out.

I asked what the club could do about empty seats? Say what you want about me I couldn't give a fuck. The ground is superb and no one has moaned about queuing before for years. I enjoy going and apart from there being a few issues with turnstiles today I have not had any issues whatsoever. Sure the club will sort things out. More concerned we have dropped 2 points. Blue moan.

Just out of interest, has your firm won some work off the club? New Norrh stand tier or other building work?

I think fans should get points for physically attending games and/or discounts off next years ticket the more games they attend.

I got a text from City to say enter via Entrance P (the entrance I normally use).
Knowing there is reduced throughput due to closed gates, City really should also have advised people to arrive earlier due to reduced ingress. They failed to inform people WHY they had to use specific entrances, and they failed to address the inevitable increase in ingress times.

There was no additional signage at the ground, and stewards / showsec were waiting until people got to the turnstiles before checking tickets and advising them they couldn't use it.

It's poor planning by anybody's standards. Some people were arriving inside the stadium 25 mins after kickoff. In what world is that a well executed plan?

I'm pretty sure there were 2 separate things going on today, we walked round nearly the whole stadium at about 2:20 and the queues were stupid at both the north and south stand lower levels, this was because everyone was being searched, I expect there was a reason for this beyond just City. As soon as we saw the queues we decided to go in our entrance (M2) we were searched but got in quickly.

In SS3 it was about 40% full at kick off, and nobody was coming in at all, this was of broken turnstiles apparently, then suddenly at about 3:10 there were suddenly hundreds coming in (as alluded to already) because they opened the gates, this is a bit worrying, because if the initial slowness was because of extra security, then suddenly letting people in without being searched, has the potential to let someone in that shouldn't be getting in, and its not beyond imagination that they could be linked.

Don't know if it was all turnstiles that were broken before kick off, but the early slowness was definitely down to the searches going on, as there just weren't enough people doing them.

Not far off what they do - they knock money off next years ticket if you say you can't make it.

Cheers Blue Moan. You are a bit of a contradiction. You are concerned that we dropped 2 points - i.e. you expect better on the pitch. Me too. But the equivalent of failing to be the best that we can be in terms of operations, logistics and supporter communications/interactions is something that is acceptable to you. The Pep principle that we can and should always strive to be better is something that we should be insisting on in all aspects of the Club - don't you think?

I agree with almost everything you say about the quality of the whole match day experience - but it needs to be even better.

It was a disaster and whoever is in charge of safety at the ground should be fired. Doors open and no checking of tickets thus allowing any Tom, Dick or Harry in. No communication from the club till after kickoff. Will they compensate us, no will they fuck.

What I want to know Is the corporate block in SS2 behind the goal was only a third full with 5 minutes of the second half played. The hospitality must be that good that the plastic ****s would rather feed their bellies with some posh grub, rather than feasting on the delights of Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne etc.

I didn't realise prawn sandwiches tasted that good.
