Some one on another thread mentioned that we could spend over the £49 net (if we can balance the books of course) but ONLY £49m worth of players would be eligible to play in the CL, is this right?

Assuming this is right we could say Fernando and Benatia for the CL and still buy the likes of Barkley or Luke Shaw if thy were happy in the knowledge they would get Capital and FA Cup games plus some league games with a view to CL football in a couple of seasons??

Can't say for definite mate, it hasn't been clarified, they could refuse to register any new players or hit us with fresh sanctions if we go over that limit.

Hmmmm UEFA seem to have us tied in knots it seems - It doesn't look like PSG have been hit with the transfer cap that we've been handed either??

UEFA £49m net spend is after what the annual turnover shows up in may 2014
so if we are back in the black and show a profit of £40million am I right in speaking we can spend £89million for the next year

The max allowable net spend in the Summer Transfer window is 60m Euros. What we can spend this window is not going to be affected by our financial results for this season, but if we generate revenue from outgoing transfers that can be added to the 60m Euros.

If we breakeven, or meet the 20m Euro deficit target for this season, then we should be on our way to operating sanction free

£49m should be plenty with the CL restrictions and squad we already have.

It is time for some EDS players to make the step up.

This lack of progress from the younger players has been a disappointment since the takeover.

Sell Agüero to Melbourne Heart for 100m, then they terminate his contract as he bites their manager. Than we sign him on free...

We can spend 149m this summer.:)

Nothing to do with overall turnover and it's not a wage cap as the OP says. It's also gross fees not amortisation and is nothing to do with instalments.

I don't know why people are funding this so hard to grasp as it's really quite simple. We can spend up to £49m on players coming in. So that's two players, one for £24m and the other for £25m. Any more and we have to sell. If we sell players for a total of £20m then we can spend that £20m as well.

But at the end of the day, as long as the gross fees we pay for players coming in are no greater than £49m more than the total for any sales, then we're OK.
