I'm sure many of us are thinking of where we should be today...waking up with hangovers in Bulgaria or Istanbul, the hangovers soon disappearing when you realise we're on the way to the UEFA Cup Final to watch blues. Alas, it was never to be.

But it was a great adventure, does this bring back many memories for anyone:

So who's watching the game tonight? I don't think I'll be able to, knowing we were so close!

Absolutely Gutted were not in Istanbul for certainly what would have hopefully been my greatest day of my life. hopefully the good times are not to far away

I Was Stood There on the 17/07/08 just round the corner from my hotel. what an experience the Faroe Islands Was

Dont think i could watch the final either but i have got tickets for the POTYA tonight so will be going there

Well done Shaktar.

I was gutted watching it then. It should have been Dunnie lifting that trophy.

I bet Elano is well gutted, could've been lifting that trophy with his former team mates. Forgot that Elano had a decent scoring record with SD 14 from 48 games.

Fuck that, where are the photos of the hot bartenders from the Faroes?

Oh well, we'll always have Schalke/Copenhagen/Hamburg. Hopefully next time its the Chumps League.

Not really related but just got me thinking, SGE won the last ever cup winners cup with Lazio, and got us (well sort of) qualified for the last ever UEFA Cup, bet he would have loved to still be in charge. At least Hans Backe sees the funny side though, when asked about managing City he just said "Would have been fun to stay on a bit longer, wouldn't it?" with a huge smile on his face, of course refering to the takeover. I'm not saying they should come back though since it's not gonna happen, plus I was furious with Sven at times too.

But I digress. Only watched bits of the final since I didn't really have a strong opinion about either of the two sides, but I'm glad Shaktar won.
