yup same here, depends on your view of trump probs, tbh I think our situation is nothing like him, he's an insecure bigot who rides roughshod over democratic processes that were put in place because the path his actions lead us down are stupid.

The comparison with some of the reporting is fair enough though.

There are most definitely people out to get him who will put everything he does in a bad light.

The thing is, that there are still some who believe there are not a load of people out to get us, when it's obvious there really is a large group who are genuinely seeking to put us down at every opportunity.

At least Trump deserves it.

By FIFA, yes. When they inevitably lose the FIFA appeal, they'll appeal to CAS and the ban will be suspended pending the outcome of that appeal.
Ahh ok. I only caught the tail end but it sounded as though they are being treated differently to the Spanish clubs previously

True enough.

But I struggle with this whole thing, as the big difference of course, is that even if we are 100% 'guilty' the only thing we have done, is try to get round rules which are quite clearly bent & have only been put in place to favour our competitors, some of whom have owners taking money out of football & all have benefitted from people & organisations putting money in, to get them where they are today.

At least Trump is actually doing stuff which is wrong.

We are just fighting against the effects of blatant corruption, but are labelled as the bad guys.

And forever will be, regardless of whether we come out of this unscathed from a sanctioning point of view. The whole narrative has already been established, to de-legitimise our achievements.

interesting, FIFA state Chelsea refused permission to postpone transfer ban while they appeal punishment

I have a slight feeling we could come out of this as heroes having blown up this self serving cartel... We just got to get the message out there about how FFP helps the establishment clubs have an advantage

We're already heroes if only for exposing that these clubs with "history" are only where they because of their off-field manipulation of football finance for their own benefit.

All this protectionist nonsense disguised as FFP is increasingly throwing light on something everyone, aided and abetted by what someone, the other day described as "media doping", has preferred not to see. There's a reason all those ex-Liverpool and Rag players are sought-after pundits, I mean, Danny Higginbottom for fuck's sake.

If this goes to Court there is a wealth of material out there to show that FFP is a sham not least the Platini interview with Martin Samuel.

I think it will play out that UEFA investigate, find fuck all wrong, invent something and fine us. The rags, Bayern etc say, "right fuck you, we're forming our own footballing body".

Wasn't there an allegation that the small company who bought the image rights was set up with ADUG funding? The project Longbow thing. If that's true, then UEFA might view that as devious workaround involving undeclared owner investment. That might also spill into the Zuculini ownership links back to ADUG funding. To me, the picture currently painted looks properly dodgy.

I note that the Times piece talks of 'a CL campaign' being under threat. That is a lot more restrained than some chunterings. I can see this turning into a suspended ban, and some sanctions like last time - that's an escalation from the previous ban (saving face for UEFA), but not too bad.

I fully believe the City statement that the accounts are legal. I don't think that will be contested, beyond a difference in interpretation of related companies, as highlighted by PB. It doesn't sound as if the 'interpretation' issue will have legs to cause any significant punishment though - I thought the self-definition mentioned by PB was after the 2014 issue anyway - unless City wilfully ignored/went against the UEFA regs then. Based on what I've read, I suspect the latter is an irritation rather than a problem.
Project Longbow was spotted by UEFA and ruled out. The Inland Revenue subsequently made such schemes illegal.
