If I win £150m on the lottery and decide to invest in Cheadle Town why should anyone be able to tell me what I can and can't spen on something I own, it's a ridiculous idea. Oh sorry Mr Tesco you can't invest your own money in your stores and make them better so you can compete with other stores as that isn't fair. FFP is a stupid thing designed to protect the cartel end of. What it should be designed to do is to stop the likes of Bolton, Pompey etc going into admin and worse still clubs running up a debt of over £400m and carrying on spending willy nilly

The general public know and see it for what it is.

Thanks to yourself and a few other posters for genuine, informative responses. That's all I was looking for. Apologies to the rest of you. I'll be leaving you alone now.

Hang around. There are people on here who will better explain the frustration City fans feel at the assumption of corruption and the misunderstandings about our finances.

The trophies are a great source of consolation to us though :-)

If you are genuine.....then please stick around, its always good to get an outsider's perspective and it may be the case that we can educate you further :-)

I'd like to, there's not many places to get an articulate discussion these days and the Newport County forums are terrible. The abuse that's already been thrown at me for coming in with a genuine question after admitting I don't have a thorough knowledge of the issue is a bit OTT though.

Perhaps I'd be better suited to sticking to threads that aren't about City and just football in general.

What I mean by "financial doping" is that, from looking from the outside it would seem that the club has been spending disproportionately relative to it's earnings over the last 10 years or so. As I said I'm not particularly clued up on this and was just looking for some answers from sensible people who are interested in actually discussing the topic rather than throwing out childish insults. I should have known better.

The club hasn’t been spending disproportionately. How the fuck are you arriving at such a conclusion? The books are clear and published for you to see so let’s not create something that isn’t real.

You could argue, and this should be your stand point, that some of the sponsorship has been over inflated but that is open to many things and frankly from what I can see, is entirely false.

The allegation is that we are cooking the books. If you were genuine you would lead with this and you may then get some sensible engagement.

As it is, you’ve come on here like one of the many sheep who just want to believe what the media and many rival fan bases portray.

So that leads me to 2 possible conclusions. Either you are on the wind up or are just absolutely fucking dumb.

It could even be both.

You may not be a conspiracist but the strength of the club statement should be giving you a different outlook by now.

FFP was designed to stop Manchester City. That is now as clear as day and that the club are going for the kill here would suggest they are in agreement.

FFP itself is flawed and whilst it’s sitting in the court UEFA will take any chance they have to enforce it, and rearrange the landscape of it, to get our football club before it’s fucking binned off for good.

I think you and I agree on everything on this subject. I was only trying to emphasize that any fair minded person familiar with the situation could only conclude that we are more sinned against than sinning.

Financial doping is when people put money into a football club you don't support. When people put money into a football club you do support, then it's called investment.
2nd question. You say you understand how FFP favours the established teams. How does "fair play" and favouring established teams fit together? Do you feel you are beginning to answer your own question?

You know how mafia gangsters, high level corporate crooks and politicians hire certain lawyers to ensure they escape prosecution by any means, even when they're guilty as hell - why don't we hire lawyers like that to make sure these snivelling, bitter rag-loving UEFA cheats get absolutely destroyed in court and take their pathetic ffp bullshit down with them?

Then start on the media types who gleefully peddle this bullshit and sue the bastards for millions? We really should, it's strange and frustrating how we just seem to sit and accept all these slurs without sticking up for ourselves.
Because, in that world, it is seen better and easier to try not to make enemies.

Remember the Bosman ruling ? The guy afterwards got ruined (by his own fault as well): https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/f...e-system-now-he-wants-to-end-it-for-good.html

The OM bribing scandal ? Glassman got ruined while the perpetrators are fine to this day (Tapie, Bernes, etc.).

Sometimes, you can win in court, but the football actors can try to ostracize you or make you pay by underhanded methods (you could say they are already using them).

Now, UEFA is pushing a bit too much and if City feels they have nothing to lose, they'll not sit and take it down. And their statement is in that vein.

Our fans are just a bit fed up at the ignorance that exists regarding our financial position. Most fans only read what they are fed by a bias media, they then lap it up and regurgitate which leads to unwarranted animosity and ill feeling.Unfortunately for you,the way you approached the topic,at this time of heightened sensitivity......earned you the 'welcome' you received.

@DAV771 seems genuine enough. It’s not his fault, he is the perfect example of what the average fan out there is thinking because of the diet of bullshit they’ve been force fed in the press for years. At least he’s come on here to find out more for himself. Isn’t that what we want?
It would be good if he was genuine but time will tell and I won’t be holding my breath.

I won over 25m on the lottery 18months ago and I started by having a huge extension built on my house because I have always lived here and like it, I also bought the flash motors and went on exotic holidays I was living the high life, then one day I received a letter from lottery saying I had to stop spending because my neighbours had all complained about it not being my money cos I had won it. So I moved to a more affluent area and once again I renovated this Hugh detached house, swimming pool was next with a jacuzzi, then I received another phone call from the lottery saying I had really pissed off the neighbours because I was new money, so now I’m in my one bedroom flat living on £100 a month, wish I had never won the lottery, which by the way I haven’t but I know how my club feels.

It would be good if he was genuine but time will tell and I won’t be holding my breath.

I am genuine but I won't be sticking around (not that any of you will care). This doesn't seem the place for me as a non City fan. Far too much hostility.

If he was genuine his first post would have been different. Have a lack of knowledge, that is nothing to be ashamed about, but don’t come on here at a time of high sensitivity and lead with ‘you are financially doping’. That isn’t a reasoned debate and lends itself to one side of this debate only.

For me it’s just a moment in the sun. Couple pages of carnage and him wandering why he’s getting abuse, woe is fucking me.

I can only conclude that he must be a Liverpool fan.

Both sides will end up with something. They will trash our reputation through the willing press. We will win the case in court. We need to go for damages due to the commercial harm they have already cost us.

Every other premier league club and champihip club supported by the FA should jump all over this as well.....

If I had bazillions and loved football......
Why not buy say Bolton for in real terms probably not a lot.....they have nice ground a reasonable fan base and loads of history....even Liverpool weren't making FA cup finals in 1953.

Ho. But I won't be allowed to invest and chase say a Europa league place? Orrrrr eff it I will buy a race horse, cycle team etc,etc instead.
Bolton can just go bust .over.
Change Bolton for.blackpool.portsmouth.notts county.newcastle.forest.derby...the list goes on.
Financial fair play is strangling ambition and in some cases club saving investment.
