Going after FFP is not a sure success and could be a long process. Would UEFA let you enter their competition during this battle ? UEFA and FIFA can threaten the whole British association if one of his member dares to go to civil court. It happened with Sion if my memory is right. And Switzerland association slapped Sion with a big point penalty in the league which satisfied UEFA/FIFA.

I know your owner is more belligerent than PSG one but PSG won the appeal and didn't go further. They even accepted UEFA request about not renewing the QTA contract. And their brand is still damaged as they are seen as cheat like City.

Btw, i was on some OctagonUK account and the guy posted a study showing that, in general, the people don't really care about the moral value of a brand. So, i think City won't have too much damage on their quest for sponsors after being cleared. PSG is doing excellent these days despite all the past and present suspicions. City will be alright.

Well Juve did far worse than what City and PSG have been accused of and it hasn't harmed them in the long term so you may well be right. Personally, I think it's essential that City win the appeal though - the club have insisted all along that they've done nothing wrong and if that is indeed the case, getting the punishment overturned needs to happen at a minimum.

How confident are people that we will win the appeal?

The acid test is to check your instant gut reaction to the question “how will you feel if united finish 5th?”

To you who has read all the stuff.
And good if it is more then once.

Are there proof in it of cheating . I know about the emails and it is not good but are there any REAL proof.

I’ve always wondered....if Company A buys something from Company B for say £100 and Company B then buys something from Company A for £100. How does anyone know it’s the same £100? Must be difficult to prove even if something was dodgy. It’s none of UEFAs business to question the non footballing company is it?

Quite. Seems that certain people at UEFA seem to think they can regulate Etihad Airways and the Government of the UAE. Talk about over-stretching your remit.

I know there might be a consensus to the opposite on here but i really can't see UEFA being quite as stupid as we'd like to believe.
Based on nothing but my gut instinct, i still think we'll end up serving a years ban from the CL
By doing this they have achieved what they wanted, our reputation is seriously damaged and future short term transfer dealing also seriously affected.

Added to that several high profile Premier League clubs who did not have a chance of Champs League qualification have been thrown a lifeline.

I like it but he is not a sports lawyer,is that not like a divorce lawyer talking about corporate law?

I think it's fair to say he understands settlement agreements and limitation which presumably are the most important aspects of the CAS process.

Sporting Law is a specialist subject in it's own right and I suspect is not an issue for CAS.

Have I gone back in time and bumped into Ted Rodgers on 3-2-1?

A scouser I unfortunately know is always in group chats saying “Saudi Arabia” have threatened referees on our behalf and stuff like that.

He doesn’t even know which country the Sheikh is from.

He didn’t even know what we’re supposed to have done when I questioned him but still called us cheats.

Football fans are fucking stupid, that’s the problem.
Except the ones on here, natch.

Well I'm convinced.

Gut instinct, you say?

A right Judge Judy and Ironside, all rolled into one.

Just pulling yer pisser ;)

A bit like when you are taking off on an aeroplane, I've decided to trust the acumen of the pilot.

Not dead yet, and nor are City.

As far as I can see he thinks it likely CAS will reduce the ban to one year? You can be a lot more pessimistic than that. He's entitled to his opinion even if not everyone agrees with it. Let's not get like like RAWK.
I agree, I just don't think that will happen. But it is going to get very messy and legal without a doubt.

Wow so smar...wait what??

Thank you, what the hell he wanted to argue about is beyond me, the fact remains our Owners home nations reputation has taken a hell of a battering because of this case.

Stefan's blog for ninetythreetwenty is a brilliant forensic analysis of the position as he sees it. This follows the excellent pods over the weekend.

He know's what he is talking about:
The author is a more than 20 year English qualified lawyer, current public company Chief Executive Officer, former General Counsel, former financial adviser to the Board of Manchester City and an experienced litigator including in matters of complex accounting. He knows little or nothing about CAS jurisprudence or the Swiss Civil Code and freely admits he could be completely wrong on all of the above given the scarcity of public documents relating to these matters.

I know a couple of others have linked to the article but I've not seen any comment here about it. Essential reading if you can handle the legal-speak:.

Ric recommended it this morning, very good piece
