“3) Are clubs no longer allowed to have losses?

To be exact, clubs can spend up to €5million more than they earn per assessment period (three years). However it can exceed this level to a certain limit, if it is entirely covered by a direct contribution/payment from the club owner(s) or a related party. This prevents the build-up of unsustainable debt.

The limits are:
• €45m for assessment periods 2013/14 and 2014/15
• €30m for assessment periods 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18

In order to promote investment in stadiums, training facilities, youth development and women’s football (from 2015), all such costs are excluded from the break-even calculation.”

Lose £23m per year and they will.

Yeah, if they lose £23m per year, but they haven't, it's 1 year, and last year they made 97m profit.

Yeah but that year only counts for last year, this year and next year and they only made. A profit through player sales.

If they don’t dramatically increase their revenue this financial year and/or next then it’s looking pretty bleak for them.

They said the reason for the loss was only selling 16m of players last season - they sold for at least 60m this summer, so all things being even they'll be back in profit by 25m+ for this years accounts.

And even if they were losing 23m every season, it would just mean raising an extra 60m through player sales every 3 years, which isn't hard when you can sell Iwobi for 40m.

Oh and they just signed a 60m/year Adidas deal, up from 30m from Puma.

That would all be correct, so long as they don’t plan on buying anyone.

Well don't forget the financial year they made the loss was the year they bought Lacazette, Torreira, Leno, Guendouzi and Sokratis.

It's not like they made the loss in a year they weren't active in the transfer market.

Arsenal will be fine financially, they aren't going to fail FFP any time soon. Their problem is like United, being mediocre long term will make them mediocre financially and then when Kroenke does leave or decide to spend they won't have enough.

And still it for them this year and next year as they did last year (as it’s not billed in one year). The issue is trying to buy new players without selling off the family silver.

The only way we should except ANY fine is if Uefa come out and say we didn't break any rules but bent them and with “name these clubs” whinging like a baby we thought we had to fine City 50 euros.

Why would we accept a fine if we didn't break any rules?

It's nailed on to be Friday, the day of our new Government, so a great day to bury bad sports news
That's what I thought but more because that's when they've done these things before (AC Milan) but I think the Times had suggested recently a decision would be delayed until next year.
