UEFA Independent Inquiry

Martin Samuel with a great takedown of UEFA again.

Turns out UEFA's head of security just happens to be a friend of Ceferin and since given the job (which wasn't advertised, of course), we had the Euro 2020 final fiasco, the Europa League final cock up and the Champions League final embarrassment. Of course he's still in a job.

Other highlights. Since Slovenian Ceferin has been in the job, more Slovenians have refereed major finals than any other nationality. Also a brief shoutout to how when sifting through all of the composers in the world to find someone to write the CL anthem, the job just happened to go to Platini's son-in-law.

But this is the relevant bit for this thread...

Just as we can guess at why the person selected to investigate what went wrong in Paris is Dr Tiago Brandao Rodrigues, a member of the Portuguese parliament, and a close ally of Tiago Craveiro, who is a senior adviser to Ceferin at UEFA, having worked previously with the Portuguese Football Association. Liverpool are believed to be unimpressed.

Then again, so were Manchester City when one of UEFA's people sitting in judgment on financial fair play turned out to be former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry.

Amazing how these jobs get around, isn't it?

Corrupt to the core. These institutions are just a way for people to gain massive influence without actually having to achieve anything themselves. It's amazing that the national leagues constantly allow them to get away with it.

When the dips and rags had the final say in who was appointed as their boss, no its not.
What is amazing is the 20* other clubs didnt cause an almighty stink about it.

*18 OK I'm stupid but I've been up since 4.

Have a look at the UEFA management committee and it tells you all you need to know.

I mean blimey, PSG's Qatari chairman is on it as he's the ECA chairman and ECA representative in UEFA. ECA was founded by clubs who love us like Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and United..... He's also the chairman of BeIn TV which is the equivalent to Sky Sports in La Liga.... Less of his TV money means less money for La Liga clubs so I wonder why La Liga hate us? Oh and is it any coincidence that we'll soon have a world cup in Qatar?

The last world cup was in Russia who UEFA have no conflicts on interest with.... Although they do have a bloke sat on their committee who literally deals in Russian oil and gas, there's also the fact that the UEFA Champions League was sponsored by the largest Russian gas company in Gazprom.... Anyway nothing to see here!

You honestly couldn't find a bigger bunch of crooks and people who clearly have massive conflicts of interest, not just personally but also very obviously in the businesses they own and run.
