Uefa has been told to scrap plans to reform club football from 2024 and start its project "from scratch".

The European Leagues' organisation - which represents 35 leagues on the continent - said reforms "benefit just a few rich and dominant clubs".

Uefa and the European Club Association (ECA) have plans for a European football pyramid with promotion and relegation to the Champions League.

But on Thursday, European Leagues said the proposals "damages the leagues".

The European Leagues' board - which includes the outgoing bosses of the English Football League and Premier League, Shaun Harvey and Richard Scudamore respectively - met in Warsaw to discuss proposals laid out by European football's governing body.

Did they really expect anything different? We want a money scheme for the same clubs every year, they couldn’t really haven’t been more blatant since corrupting ffp.

In the corrupt corridors of UEFA the conversation went something like this,

‘Will these new reforms benefit City or Utd?’

‘Citeh’

‘Right, fuck it off then and we’ll come up with some other bullshit.’

This proposal would have benefited the rags more than anyone else, under this scheme as long as they don't finish bottom of a heavily weighted European group, they would have been ensured qualification in the subsequent season(s) without having the seemingly difficult task of getting in the top 4 of the premier league. I can't think of another club from the G14 type clubs with less prospects of qualifying for the champions league through league position. In fact UEFA went as far as saying only 4 teams to qualify via league placings from the 50 odd federations, it was a desperate attempt to shoe horn there favourite 20 odd clubs and a few undesirables like psg and city that couldn't be excluded and firmly bolt the doors on and any future gatecrashers.

If we had been absent in the first year due to a European ban would that leave us out of the nominated group?

I imagine their absolute wet dream scenario would have been a 3 year ban from 21/22 so banned for the new format season, and then even if we turned the PL into the an spl equivalent we would only ever be able to qualify if one of the existing English clubs manged to finish bottom of their European cash cow league.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up next to achieve the primary objective of maximise sponsorship and tv revenues whilst ensuring the 'istoreee clubs are ensured their slice of the cake even if they have a bad spell.

Personally given they seem hell bent on making it bigger regardless and trying to make it impossible for a Milan type club not to part take i think the only format that could potentially work would be 8 groups of 6 teams, so a 10 game league with the winners of each group going into qf stage and the other 5 teams are straight out. As this gives the old shit teams a guaranteed 4 extra pay days from 10 matches in group stage, and only adds 2 games for the actual winner. The groups should be straight draws no seeded bollocks with maybe a caveat of no more than 2 clubs from 1 federation.
