Bale has 7 goals and 8 assists already this season. Last season I would have said he was overated, but not this season.

6 goals, 7 assists according to <a class="postlink" href="http://www.eplindex.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.eplindex.com</a>.

In 56% of the game time, Nasri has 2 goals and 7 assists and he's been a disappointment to many. In 35% of the game time Johnson has 5 goals and 1 assist and he's not pulled up any trees either.
Not sure why they differ but i got my stats from the official premier league website. I'm pretty sure they are correct?

I think one of Bales 7 was ruled an own goal this week.

One other goal got chalked off but I can't remember the player.

Re the above, Bale against Fulham, Adam against us, and Reo-Coker against Wigan were all ruled own goals.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/dubious-goals-panel-ruling.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news ... uling.html</a>

Just as a comparison, Michael Jackson over at the rags also has 6 goals, 7 assists from (slightly) less game time.

He also gets a cross in every 42 minutes (54 for Bale), creates a goal scoring chance every 30 minutes (Bale 31), and scores ever 272 minutes (Bale 300).

Nani also has a face that should be punched ever 0.34 minutes (Bale 0.57)

Right fair enough, I assume he will need one crediting to his assist tally then.
:-)

Goal and assist stats aren't the be all and end all when assessing the overall contribution to the team. Heskey's stats are undoubtly bobbins but when you see what he does when he doesn't have the ball you see why some managers are happy to have him in their team.

If Dzeko stunk of badger piss that resulted in defenders falling head over heels in love with him and followed him around the pitch for the full 90 it would create plenty of space for others to score a few but Dzeko would have a goals+assists of 0.

I quite like that table above, for one particular stat that sticks out a COUNTRY MILE.

Check the assists column for David Silva, then compare it to every man and his dog in the Premiership.

:o)

Gareth Bale described being named in UEFA.com's Team of the Year as a 'special honour'.

And the flying Welshman was quick give his team-mates all the plaudits after receiving such an individual honour.

It's the first time a Spurs player has made it into the Team of the Year since its inception in 2001.

Voted by users of UEFA's official website, Gareth is the only Premier League player to be named in the 2011 team and becomes the first Welshman to make the 11.

He was up agains the likes of Lille's Edin Hazard, United's Ashley Young and Chelsea'a Juan Mata in the left midfield position.

In total, over 4.5 million votes were cast.

“It’s great to be recognised in such illustrious company,” said Gareth, “and the fact that it’s voted for by fans across Europe makes it a special honour.

“But as I’ve said all along, I’m part of a team here at Spurs and any recognition I receive is down to my team-mates as much as anything that I do individually.

"The team has been playing really well and we’ve all played a part in that."

Luka Modric was also on the shortlist in central midfield and Gareth is one of only three players not based in Spain's La Liga to make the cut. The others are AC Milan centre-back Thiago Silva and Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben.

Centre-back: Gerard Piqué (FC Barcelona & Spain)

Seeing Bale amongst those names is just hilarious.

You're right.

Bale and 10 no-name Johnny Foreigners.

I see Jermaine Jenas was criminally overlooked once again.

tbh would of put Van Persie in there in place of Bale and plaed ronaldo in midfield/wing
So would I, but that wasnt an option, you could pick one of a few players for each position, I can't remember who the others Bale was up against were though.

This is the one voted by the people of the world. No rags included but no City or Chelsea players either, nor Van Persie FC. Bale the only PL player that shows just how highly regarded he has become outside of England too. Still would have Vidic or Kompany ahead of Pique myself but it's a good team. Thiago Silva deserves a spot, absolute class player and the man Mancini wants for us but we'll be lucky to get him.

Casillas; Alves, Pique, Thiago Silva, Marcelo; Robben, Xavi, Iniesta, Bale; Messi, Ronaldo

Bale! realy why?
he is a good player but he's is no david silva, xavi or iniesta class is he

No but they are all central players so you could not pick them over Bale. From memory the only other player who was in with a shout of LM was Di Maria. The LM quality was that bad Ashley Young was an option.

I happened to pick Bale too, but I also picked Silva
Kompany certainly 1 of the best performing centre backs in 2011
Tried to refrain from picking Rags, Barca or Madrid players, but Ronaldo was a certain pencil-in and I would gladly take him over short-arsed, growth hormone-deficient Messi anyday, nope, didn't vote for Messi, but I forgot who else I voted for at striker as it was about 2 or 3 months ago
