Winning games in Spain for Madrid is meaningless because so many of the teams are sub standard. Bellingham has plenty to prove despite all the hype. I would not swap Foden or Bernardo for Bellingham.

You can see that Stones and TAA (in a hybrid role only not RB) are essential for England to function effectively as a creative force. Ditch Maguire and Henderson before it's too late. In that team last night, Sterling would have been a useful option off the bench.

Its clear southgate hasnt a clue how to play Phil. Phil is a top top player but managed by a useless spineless knobhead.
I really hope southgate hasnt knock Phil's confidence. It seems to take Phil some time to get back to his City form after being coached by southgate.
Its ridiculous of the press/media to main about Phil's performance when his teammates wont pass to him. Phil plays on another level and it must be really hard to drop his standards.
Phil goes from playing with KDB, Rodri, Silva, Gundogan, fernandinho etc to playing with fucking Henderson, Rice, Mount, Rashford, did I mention fucking Henderson.

We all know the US cartel clubs' client media are out to destroy City, in this instance via SKY's contemptible attack on probably the country's best young attacking midfielder - using a pathetic clickbait stringer - simply because he plays for us. As you say, it's bad enough for Phil to be exposed to the influence of a clueless, gutless loser like Baghead in the first place but being dug out for their red herds to jeer reeks of desperation.

For me the most obvious team to pick would've been:

Pickford
Walker, Dunk, Guehi/Tomori, Chilwell
Rice
Bellingham, Foden
Saka, Kane, Rashford

Would've been balanced but with a lot more attacking threat. Less control? Maybe a tad but possession with no guile is useless.

It's criminal that Maguire and Henderson are starting and it's clear that Southgate's time is up.

I would prefer Shaw over Chillwell, I think he is better as a proper FB, otherwise this would be the perfect England eleven. And to ban Kane coming back more than 10 yards when we are settled in the attacking phase of the game, even if that can produce a goal once in 1000 games.

I try not to over analyse who should play over who. It’s never really bothered me if any Hammers players don’t get selected, a lot of uproar Bowen and JWP not included on Hammers forum - but all clubs throw pelters at any England manager for not picking their players.

Personally I’d rather JWP over Henderson but they are slightly different players, Henderson more defensive - also I think Southgate likes Henderson for his experience. Agree though he didn’t offer alot tonight.

Call me biased, but I think it's criminal Foden is not the mainstay of this England team. If he was Spanish, he would be the first name on the team sheet and be the fulcrum of the team, not a bench warmer and playing on the fringes.

While I agree, It has to be said that he’s neither the first name on the team sheet nor the fulcrum of the team for City.
