ULEZ Letter

Or keep my 2011 diesel that’s only done 85k and theres nowt wrong with it, don’t waste energy and pollution on building me a car I can’t afford, problem solved ;)
You do realise you are largely talking to people who have never lived or worked in greater London for any real length of time? They look at the tube map etc and think you can wizz round anywhere at any time, whereas the truth is a lot of people are living and working in outer London - within the M25/ulez, but not actually very well served by public transport for journeys that are mostly around those outer edges of the zone rather than in and out of central London.

EVs the most stolen item in London and surrounding areas at the moment.
A lot of insurance companies wont insure an electrical Vehicle that"s registered
with a London or surrounding area address.

I think car thieves should be applauded for their environmental credentials in this respect. If only some of those feckless minimum wage and white van men would do the same the air quality would be so much better.

Do buses not go around the edges or do they have to go in straight lines?

The youth of today - I despair - I remember when that dubious honour belonged to XR2's and Cossies

I know when we lived in Ruislip and harefield it wasn't practical for my spouse to get to their job at Hillingdon hospital on the bus - particularly for shift work. That is just a personal example but it's typical of the situation that can't be grasped by those whose experience of tfl is largely as a football fan or tourist. You also have the safety aspect at night.

When I lived in Uxbridge going back 20 years like but to get to west Drayton I had to take my life into my own hands and cycle or use the car for a 5 mile journey, no direct buses it wouldve took ages on a bus on shift work, maybe things have improved but lots of the the time it’s nit just as easy to say jump on one bus or tube, one thing falls down your bugged.
To get to City I have to take two buses then walk, tried it in anticipation of the parking restrictions coming in, night matches are a fucking nightmare, last bus to get to my house is 2330, miss that I’m walking 3 miles, so I have to hope the bus to get me to oldham isn’t delayed to give me the chance because if any one is cancelled I’m screwed. I’m relying on two different buses hoping they don’t cancel, because it happens, a lot.

Was this a long time ago?

It's about 30 minutes by bus.

Most shifts start and finish at 7 don't they?

As I said, you are largely debating with people with no real experience of it - and a tendancy to boil any issue down to a left v right crusade.

Lol, 30 mins in the timetable - it's not central London with buslanes. Add the connecting service and walks to and from stops and it's a nightmare. Doable though so long as the kids remember to get themselves up for school!

It's amazing me that all of these committed, and dyed in the wool socialists want to support what amounts to a tax on the poor ?

Even better than that is is being accused of being a tory because you disagree with the burden being placed on the poor, so that the wealthy can have clearer roads.

The lumpen proletariat WILL use public transport, and curtail their personal freedoms, as long as it's a Labour Mayor pushing it.

Yeah, I'm keeping my diesel till it rots and falls apart on the drive. However, my driving days will probably be over before that happens, so it's a double win for me!
