Under The Cosh

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve just listened to the Nicky weaver one. Thoroughly enjoyable and weaver comes across as a right good lad. Some cracking stories as well.
Really enjoyed Nicky Weaver part 1 and am halfway through part 2. Very funny and the whole show seems like a good craic. Nicky comes across as a nice bloke but lived his drink

I’m in the minority here but I wish I hadn’t listened to the Nicky weaver one.
I used to love Weavs but he comes across as a typical footballer of his generation. A total pisshead who pissed his career up the wall. Joked about the joey Barton cigar incident that ended a young lads career, made racist gags about a tour to china, and came across to me at least as a bit of a dick.

Was sent a clip with Wayne Biggins on this platform and he sounded a right good laugh ( only seen a short 2 minutes).
Had Jeff Winter on over a couple of days and it's not bad to be honest.
Never new Biggins was a pigeon racing, tab smoking, northerner or that John Sheridan was a boyhood blue. Thought he was the raggiest rag from ragtown.

Well he had 3 years out with injury and actually said getting back in the team after those injuries was his greatest achievement so think you're being a bit harsh.
That said he and his stories do seem a throwback to several generations before but in fact it was only 10-15 years ago.
Some of the stories are funny though!

The football was dire under Pearce but hearing Danny Mills, Jon Macken and Matt Mills talking about that time it’s no wonder we were useless on the pitch.

Players had no respect for him and he applied no discipline.

I've listened to every one of them except the Mills one, couldn't stomach an hour or more of him, can't stand the gobshite.
I listened to both episodes.
A very good listen. He doesn’t big himself up at all, reckons he got lucky throughout his career. When you listen to how it ended at City you can understand why he didn’t play again when he was getting dogs abuse on here.
He had an insurance policy he took out against injuries curtailing his career. If he had played another game , even a friendly it would have been a declaration of fitness and his policy would have been null and void. He said the policy was paying him not City. Comes across as a disrespectful cock about most of his managers.
Keegan,Pearce, Sven (England) all weak.
Pardew , Curbishley he loved. It is an excellent warts an all insight into the game listen to these pods.

There’s a lot of episodes that come out with the club feeding lies to the press whilst players just wanting to play are being made to train on their own or banned from the training ground.

Football really is an industry quite unlike any other, lots of rewards but not for the faint hearted.

I’ve just watched the Matt mills one. Not sure what to make of him really.
Half way through the Danny mills one. He actually comes across quite well so far and although I have Heard quite a few stories about him from my mate I’m quite enjoying it so far.

I would say though that every one I’ve listened to so far they mention Joey Barton and seem to love a story about him. May as well just get him on the thing.

If there’s a better one than the Andy Woodman / Weetabix fingers one , I’d be amazed .
Absolutely hilarious . For a journeyman goalkeeper to end up where he is is amazing .

Just finishing up the first part of the Ste Howey ep, he's got some great stories. The pods been some good value, thanks for the rec!
Enjoyed that one too, hoping in part two he's got some more stories about his city days, although it seems that he maybe didn't leave the club on good terms.

Not so sure Keith Gillespie will be a fan though!
