'We're at the top of the league because we work hard we're not there by fluke. We'll do our business in the background, let them talk about Liverpool, Man United and Spurs, we'll just keep doing what we're doing.'

Happy to see and hear James playing into..... City, ‘we’re not really here, contending for the PL title’. Along with everyone else.

That could be tested tonight though, if we go to the top of the PL? ;-)

It'll be a tough game tonight. If we win it'll be a great result as Villa are playing some good stuff at times this season. Covid seems to have been quite a leveller in terms of competition at the top. Been some unforeseen results.
VAR still producing its fair share of game changers and the number of penalties being given for Utd is questionable yet others are being ignored. West Brom penalties against Wolves both seemed iffy to me

Madfisons comments are straight from the media. They try to forget the pain of city being better than any other team in the PL, being the best ranked team in the world.

I think pep prefers it that way, being underdogs and ignored. He's a craftsman, he doesn't want the bullshit media surrounding clubs like lfc / utd.

This season though (unlike 2015) has stronger clubs competing with them (despite the obvious dip across the board). They won't find it easy to beat the top 6 clubs and that's the real competition.

I didn't think we'd lose in the cup to Forest those seasons back when we were 'in for Kaka', I thought we would batter Palace on Boxing Day, and I thought WBrom would be slaughtered. Funny old game!

And I've always thought of the Rags as whipping boys - it's just that on too many occasions we left the whips on the training ground.
