Forget the goalkeeping errors, that’s all on Pep. Yet again he fucks around with a baffling lineup in a big game and it goes wrong yet again. Anybody figure out our plan first half? This is why we won’t win the champions league, he can’t help himself, it’s almost as if he has to prove he’s smarter than everyone in the big ties when simply doing what we’ve been doing for the last 3 years would be better. After the subs we looked better but we still didn’t create much, mahrez was dangerous and should have started. Didn’t need two holding players when all they do is play it long down the channels and just ignore that area of the pitch, you arguably don’t even need 1 yet we played 90 minutes with two. Actually think gundogan played alright first half it was his position rather than his performance that was the issue. Foden was more involved centrally but we needed both him and Bernardo in there. We were playing with a man light all game with Sterling on the pitch. Criminal how he didn’t get dragged off at halftime nevermind get another anonymous 90 minutes. Mahrez has every right to be pissed off at being benched when he’s seeing Sterling play game after game and do literally nothing.
Like to end on a positive but the single positive I can find from that is Cancelo had a decent game.
