United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

Everyone should read the "cost controls and related party income" section of this.

I can't believe City would be so negligent as to back this. No way can we be onboard, that section should be renamed the how to stich up City section.
Yes, totally agree. A lot of people on here suggesting city are complicit with this amazes me. We are in a fantastic position financially and our two main rivals are on the ropes, why we would help to bail them out now I don't know.

If we are involved in this and from what I have read on here that is possible. Sort of makes sense why we need Messi to grow our tv audience.

So if im seeing this correct, if the 9 select clubs are getting the votes for any future changes and rules being applied and the vote is carried when 6 clubs vote in favour we are liable to get stitched right up as what i can see is there are at least 6 of the Hateful 9 in that group and them clubs could set us up to fail once and for all and we couldnt do anything about it as we would be out voted.

some of the points totally look fine but there are elements especially the big six having so much power they can even veto owners they dont like taking over rival PL clubs. WTF?

To be honest I am not sure Soriano and Omar Berrada arent lapping this up and happy to be involved in some way. Clearly we were happy to vote with them on pushing through 5 subs, thinking about B teams in EFL and also changing tv money sharing a bit more in favour of top6 clubs recently.

think the clubs would end up in more shit are the current PL club in second half of the table, especially with going from 20 to 18 teams, and than having the top6 or top9 having extra rights , extra power over the rest.

You just have to think about Mike Riley and if Liverpool/United offers them and his squad of frogs more money they will happily push them over the line every year.

That also means maybe the top6 will change current PL FFP in a way to suit them on having current very high incomes, while making sure there wont be any future huge changes in the landscape by new owners or if yes they can restrict them with couple of votes instead of the current 14 needed from 20. Or Glazer, Henry, Abra, Kroenke, Levy will sit together to approve a Kuwaiti/UAE/Qatar takeover at Newcastle or Leeds for example? That will be a long meeting...

Someone has to lose out on money with all this and it will be imo the PL clubs like Villa, Newcastle, WHU etc. While any new deal being made will be made sure will favour top4/top6 much more than the current kind of equal share we have in PL compared to Italy or Spain where the Barca, Real, Atletico is taking home like 75% of La Liga tv money while the rest shares 20%.

God I hope United will miss out on CL and the banks come down hard on them on the debt and Mansour will bail them out but with one condition that they have to go Conference league. :D

Pool, Arse, United managed to get the whole top 10 to write to Uefa to make sure City are banned for FFP failure. Imagine giving them greater power and veto right s etc.
They can make sure they dont have to write letters but act on their own instead.

Just listening to the rag Mark Chapman and others discussing on radio 5 Live at the moment. Chapman mentioned "the Glazers and Abu Dhabi" as if we were involved trying to force it through! then Rory Smith saying "when Countries own Clubs like at City."
They are trying to bad mouth us and draw us in whether we are involved or not.
That’s what some thought would happen and were posting on here,if the proposal started to get negative press/media,city would suddenly be lumped in,as in mentioned now in the same breath as rags and red scousers, more negative media next 24 hours you can bet the narrative will be city were the architects of this ..

Just a taste of what we despise about them.

Fucking rag scum, to put it mildly.

UEFA Group of 14
PL Group of 2?

Let’s all be honest, football has moved waaaaay far away from being a weekend respite for the working class, where they can support their local team, buy a program before the game, buy a pie and a cup of OXO or a pint at half time, and visit the club shop for a shirt for the lad at Christmas to help the clubs finances, and is now simply a global TV franchise like BGT/AGT or Top Gear!

Yes, it has helped inject a higher quality player and level of football into the game, but it is rapidly proving out punters AND SOME CLUBS!

We can’t be too far from a European Suoer League, can we?

Relegation & Promotion from ESL to PL for lowest placed English team, anyone?

US mega franchisers don’t get involved for the sport, they get involved for the CASH FLOW! FSG (Liverpool) are all about the 162 game season and the 81 home games that fill Fenway Park for BoSox games, with EVERY game televised, corporate promotions bringing in millions in revenues, and before you know it, you have a $Billion club with $100Ms in cash flow...sports franchises are simply an ATM that spits out cash all day every day!

And, tbf, Sheikh Mansour has turned a once sleeping (fading) giant into the same thing, except he sells stakes in the franchise (US & China) and has recouped all his $$$ already, yet gets richer by the day from the parts he still owns. The big difference SO FAR, is that he still sees it as a vehicle that needs investment to maximize the mother’s milk it will throw off...but that gravy train is almost over, too, as the phrase “self-sustaining” becomes the watchword of the organization.

How long will it be before City (or CFG) is throwing off excess dollars FROM OPERATIONS, which font get ploughed back into the club???

So, it’s time! Is the Premier League going to retain its status AND be the gift that keeps on giving to the EFL? Is the “elite” of the Premier League about to extract “ownership of decisions” as the price to bail out the so-called football pyramid?

Or, are small communities going to come to the realization that full time professional football is very expensive, both on and off the field, and that the EFL needs to be considerably smaller to achieve and semblance of self-sustaining fiscal balance?

Does English football NEED 92 professional clubs, with entire sub-pyramid of scores of lower league teams struggling for ball sponsors, etc.?

It’s what we ALL grew up with, and it paid for my family’s existence for 20 years, but in a world where money talks, and absolutely nothing related to football is getting cheaper, what does the future look like in 5, 10, 20 years, and is NOW the time to organize ourselves for it?

Would an 18 team league be a bad thing for the players? After all, you can only get so much blood out of the stone! I watched the best midfielder in the world ASKING to come off the field after 70 minutes in an international match at Wembley, while captaining his country! That’s unheard of...but I’m glad he did it, because 11 games in a month MIGHT be a game or two too many!

Personally, I think we are heading to a 16 team PL, with a 30 game season, and a significantly expanded CL, which may well include multi-tiered GROUP STAGES (48/32 to 16 to an 8 club knockout competition).

For good or bad, we ALL KNOW WHERE THE MONEY IS, and the game will gravitate towards the $$$$. The one POTENTIAL BRIGHT SPOT might be an ability to lower ticket prices to levels where the working class “Everyman” can still go to games and feel a part of the club, while seeing big games...even if it is a two-tier system of domestic pricing and Euro-pricing.

I would love to ask him why there are no statues outside the swamp of the two most important names in their clubs history, James William Gibson and J Henry Davies
