United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

I would think that most clubs haven't seen a final proposal statement, and therefore won't make any comment.

The run-up to the weekend fixtures will be interesting to see what happens in the press conferences.
West Ham said the first they knew of it was when they heard through the press, and they are named as one of the nine stakeholder's (what a wank term stakeholder is).

I really wonder how much consultation has actually gone on, outside the twins of evil.

Don’t really see what we gain by distancing ourselves at this point.

We might as well try and stay in earshot of these guys.

If reports are to be believed it’s been planned for years and we found out last week.

For me keep your enemies close.

A cheap PR trick that will e forgotten about next week would not be worth it.

Plus the whole world have seen it for what it is and these clubs have not come out of it well.

I think some of it has been floated at some clubs - maybe the 9 knew but this WHU guy didn't himself? Maybe only the six richest clubs knew late last week?

I thought it was an anonymous insider speaking for WHU, unless there's been more this evening which I've missed. Nothing formal, so why would anyone commit to a position now? It makes no sense.

The Telegraph have been dissecting what they describe as an 18th version of it. There doesn't seem much that would make 14 vote for it, as the Telegraph are not having people quoted. It's difficult to see how (as written) the non-9 clubs could vote for it. @domalino has written that that 6 of 9 will likely be relaxed to entice them, and I think he's probably right - what point will be enough (10 of 15? 50%+1?) to change things is probably too soon to guess.

Tony Evans (Scouse, Independent) wrote that it was Parry/Henry, with a Glazer getting involved at some point down the line. Even he isn't denying that this is all from Liverpool.

Cant believe we would get into bed with these fuckers after the shit we have been through because of them. Surely we could not be that naive as to think they would treat us as equals. They will have some shitty plan going on behind our backs to try and fuck us over again. If we agree to this then any respect I have for our owners will fuck off never to return

The Guardian and BBC radio 5 live have both said Bruce Buck at Chelsea has been involved a fair bit.

Some people are actually falling for the “commitment to away fans ticket caps” bits etc...
You don’t need this thing to go through to not rip people off.
They also want to align ffp with Europe which is a factor behind clubs essentially being forced to fleece fans or risk being penalised.

the game is naturally unequal due to some clubs having more money than others by virtue of being successful at the right time as tv deals took off and number of people abroad taking an interest grew. It is only going to make it worse to strengthen the power of those few.

have thought for a long time that the game is not far away from being “gone”. It is so close to it now. When the link to the fans has been lost (which is surely inevitable with more European games and internationally staged games and friendlies) the interest is gone.
Will probably end up reliant on the foreign market and those people on Twitter who for example reply to bbc sport link to article advising de bruyne has returned to city by saying something about being schooled by Henderson.

It's the main story on BBC football. I know the beeb has gone down the pan a bit, but they wouldn't make up, a "hammers insider" who said "the club were unaware of the proposals". More than likely someone high up at the club, but doesn't want naming.
