Spot on. I’ve felt over the last couple months that as much as its been a adaptation period problem, i felt like he might have been getting in the way of himself mentally.Hopefully, I think something seemed to click in his brain in the wolves game, making runs into the box that he hasn’t been making before. He also looked very sharp when he came on for England against Italy.
Let’s hope he continues that way. Maybe he’s realised it’s time to show what he can do or he isn’t going to last at a winning club like ours. He seems very self-aware when he talks about himself as a player, so I think he knows that he can’t really afford to have two average seasons in a row and is now going to start consciously putting in that extra bit of effort, making the runs etc.
He has the ability, he just needs to believe in it and leave everything on the pitch each time, and then the ability will take care of itself.
Like you said I feel like something clicked in thaf wolves game. His confidence speaking during the international break and hitting out at souness kinda gave me further validation that he might have found within himself that he is more than good enough to start for City.
