I hear what you are sayingNunes played well likely better than anyone and as you said has improved in his role- what are you on about putting yet another player out of position there especially when we are short of cover in his natural position already.
Can’t comment on the quality of the players from the last century :0)City have a history of playing natural attacking (or defensive) midfield players at full back. Bobby Kennedy under McDowall, Poyser, and Mercer often filled in at full back. Then Glyn Pardoe was converted from a forward into a full back by Mercer and remained there for the rest of his career.
More recently Fabian Delph, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Rico Lewis, and Nico O'Reilly have been used similarly. None of the above have been conventional full backs and would usually revert to central midfield when City had possession.
