I agree, it wasn't the best move appointing him, but I think he would have had them far better now, for much less layout too.

Wasn't GPC instrumental in his appointment ?

To be fair to him, I am sure that Moyes would have had them better organised , despite him buying that f*cking thug Fellaini .

Yes it was, and at the time I thought it was wrong, but he'd have bought better value as well as quality had they stuck with him. Fellaini was a panic buy, and I think even Moyes would have phased him out by now.

Their loss, and compounded by appointing LvG imho, who's been a near disaster.

The thing is they got away with minimal investment for years under the GPC as he flogged his last good squad to death. That last title will always be one of the great mysteries how they got so much out of such a poor ageing squad. You have to credit GPC for that. However, at the same time he had lost his rag with many top agents and never adjusted to the new player power era (see Pogba). He basically gave up on the transfer market and some of that ethos remains to this day. They expect all the best players in the world to form an orderly que to sign up. This was close to the truth when Fergie started winning things but over the years they have developed a mentality of complete denial of the fact that Bosman happened and other clubs have made massive leaps forward in all respects and the transfer market is a much more level playing field. You have to work hard and smart, pay the going rate and deal with unsavoury agents, just being a ‘big club’ does not wash anymore. United are playing catch up here and when Moyes was in the seat they were inept as a club when it came to big transfers. I don’t think Moyes could have turned that around on his own, it is not just about money, it’s about plugging away for years at agents to line up deals.

Long may it continue - couldn't happen to a bigger shower of shit !

My Dutch friend here in the Algarve just told me LVG has left Manure... he heard on Dutch radio just now... is it true?

JJ

Not heard anything but makes sense for Dutch radio to be the first to report it before the Stock Market opens in the U.S..

In relation to the unsurprising news that MUFC will be re-naming their south stand the "Bobby Charlton Stand" a spokesman for Sir Robert of Touting declared that Sir Booby is immensely pleased at this outstanding recognition of his longevity and he would be pleased to "Buy any spares". :)
